Citing bias, the former president asks for the case to be tossed.

Former President Donald Trump has demanded a mistrial in the New York court case brought against him by AG Letitia James. The trial – overseen by Judge Arthur Engeron – relates to accusations that Trump and his business partners and associates falsely inflated the values of properties in order to receive preferential loans, among other alleged crimes. Trump has maintained his innocence and has now called for the trial to be scrapped, citing both the judge’s and the principal law clerk’s bias against him.

In a 30-page filing, Trump’s legal team details instances of personal bias and animosity; “This appearance of bias threatens both Defendants’ rights and the integrity of the judiciary as an institution,” the demand reads. It further cites a New York legal code that “a judge shall not make any public comment about a pending or impending proceeding in any court within the United States or its territories.”

A spokesperson for AG James’ office released a brief statement rebutting the mistrial demand, saying that Donald Trump is attempting to “dismiss the truth and the facts, but the numbers and evidence don’t lie.” “He can keep trying to distract from his fraud, but the truth always comes out,” the spokesperson said.

Liberty Nation believes you should have all the facts without the spin. As such, we republish the motion for mistrial here in full.
