A Manhattan jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 charges of falsifying business records in the first degree. The 34 counts came from 11 invoices, 12 vouchers, and 11 checks, all of which together formed Trump’s monthly reimbursement payments to Michael Cohen, who paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 for her silence about an alleged affair.
Judge Juan Merchan called the jury in at about 4:30 p.m. to dismiss them for the day, but the jury asked for another half hour to render the verdict. It was just after 5 p.m. when the verdicts were read. The jurors were then asked if they all agreed that the former president was guilty on all 34 charges, and each confirmed that they did. Trump's attorney, Todd Blanche, moved for an acquittal of the charges. He argued that the jury couldn't have reached a guilty verdict without Michael Cohen's testimony, and that the defense believed Cohen perjured himself at the trial. Judge Merchan denied the motion and set the sentencing date for July 11 at 10 a.m.
