On March 26, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. named Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan as his 2024 running mate at an event in Oakland, CA. Reportedly, the Independent candidate, who has become a thorn in the side of Joe Biden’s reelection effort, has spoken with more than half a dozen potential VP picks.

Ms. Shanahan, 38, is no stranger to the Kennedy campaign. She helped to pay for a Super Bowl ad supporting Kennedy. Shanahan has donated to Democrat campaigns in the past, including Biden’s 2020 White House run. In 2023, however, she donated to then-Democrat candidate Kennedy.
Of the 70-year-old Kennedy, Shanahan last month told The New York Times, “It was very, very interesting to me to hear how people have been kind of stirred by his message and his willingness to be out there.”
Kennedy made his running mate pick early because, in several states, third-party or Independent candidates must name their VP picks to get on the ballot.
Worried that Kennedy will siphon votes from Joe Biden, Democrats have been trying to make it difficult for him to run. A Fox News poll released March 3 showed Kennedy at 13% support among the sample of 1,262 registered voters nationwide.
