On Feb. 13, President Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was confirmed by the Senate in a 52 to 48 vote, with Republican Mitch Connell voting “nay,” alongside all Democrats.

The path to confirmation was at times ugly and often combative with Kennedy facing accusations of profiting from drug company lawsuits and having “unacceptable” views on vaccines. With the successful confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence on Wednesday, February 12, the only contentious nominee remaining is Kash Patel who seeks to head up the FBI and was advanced out of committee today by a party-line 12-10 vote.
