Most Heartlanders, with the notable exception of those radical left urban centers, have pulled the lint brush out of the junk drawer to remove the errant, lingering vestiges of a woefully pathetic 2023 one last time before deploying a brief list of resolutions. The top priority is to replace President Joe Biden through a fair and critical election year. You see, flyover state citizens do not appreciate those who monkey around with our Constitutional rights.
Three top problems plague flyover folk: The economic collapse, ridiculous globalist climate change laws, and the leaky US/Mexico border. In brief, the federal government needs to answer to the people – not politicians.
Liberty Nation reached out to those who comment frequently on the issues and asked this simple question: “What do Heartlanders want to see in 2024?”
The Heartland Looks to Trump
“I think if I don’t win, we’re going to have a depression like 1929. I think the reason the stock market is up is because if you look at the polls, people say I’m going to win,” said Former President Donald Trump in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News. “Biden is getting lucky in that regard. I had a phenomenal stock market. Everything was good about our economy. We had no inflation.”
A new Morning Consult poll backs up that statement: “A majority of American voters – 50 percent – view Trump as the more trusted candidate between him and Biden to handle the economy. Biden sits at 32 percent.”
“Things are getting better, and people think things are going to get worse – and that’s the most dangerous piece of this,” said Democratic pollster Celinda Lake, who has worked with Biden. Absolutely no one who pays attention at the gas pump or grocery store has seen evidence of that statement. The danger is American perception.
In Arizona, Dave Metcalf, who sometimes contributes to this column, wrote: “In 2024, I want to see the end of the Obama/Biden policies that are destroying our Republic. I also want to see the people responsible for corrupting our public institutions start to be held accountable and face real consequences. Finally, I want to see a new President elected who will stop the insanity of the Biden years, put America first, and start us on the path to repairing and restoring our great Republic.”
In two weeks, Iowa kicks off the crazy presidential primary season, which could set the tone for the next 60 days and beyond. Mr. Trump is ahead of the field, while former Ambassador Nikki Haley runs a distant second. But it is early, and the desperate radical left states are fiddling with democracy. At this point, it’s a hurry up and wait. Not everyone in these rural parts wants Trump back – but, of course, they also don’t want Biden.
They do want the insanity to cease.
Don’t Tread on Me
In Warren County, Indiana, Aaron Senesac penned his thoughts: “In general, Heartlanders want to be left alone in 2024.” Senesac pointed out the dangerous practices that are beginning to invade farm and ranch lands, like the controversial practice of Co2 Sequestration. Liberty Nation’s John Klar can educate one on this issue, describing a process that “involves a massive industry, pipelines, and the pumping of millions of tons of pressurized liquid carbon dioxide under the ground for long-term storage.”
Lyn Martin agreed, telling the feds to bugger off: “Just leave us alone. Stop giving Economic Development so much money and power. Treating Co2 dump lines like utilities opens a whole new can of worms,” Martin warns. “Stop eminent domain under the guise of a public utility. Co2 dumping is not a public utility.”
Senesac continued, “We, the people, want our voting power back.”
Midwest farmers see the danger in an unstudied process with concerns of groundwater seepage and environmental catastrophes. And most wonder why no Democrats are decrying this practice.
Cease and Desist on Open Borders
The economy may be the most listed reason to oust Mr. Biden come November 2024, but right on the heels of inflation is illegal immigration. The heartland demands that Biden’s open border policies end immediately. Of course, that will only happen through a fair election in which someone other than the current man in the Oval Office wins.
2023 was a year of Biden breaking all sorts of immigration records: “The 2.5 million encounters of migrants occurring at the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year (FY) 2023 represent a new historic high, topping the prior year’s record, as has been widely noted since the recent release of year-end government statistics,” reports Migration Policy Institute.
Crime is up, budgets are stretched, and locals aren’t satisfied – a problem likely to follow folks into the voting booths. Perhaps this is the Biden bell that can’t be un-rung.
That’s what Donnie Dearen, who lives in the border state of New Mexico, is talking about. “What I want to see is some common sense coming from Washington—fiscal responsibility. Our borders are being overrun, and our politicians spend more and more money on them (illegal aliens). My son is 17, and he will be paying for these politicians’ reckless spending his entire life. Leave us alone.”
Let’s Get the Party Started
New Year’s Eve will be celebrated as “Hurray 2023 is OVER.” Heartlanders are just glad it’s in the rearview. No Auld Lange Syne: Kick this year to curb and get busy. Will 2024 be the year that resonates with the political parties attempting to run this country? The American middle, rural enclaves, and small towns will not sit back as this election season launches. Nor will they be intimidated by the drive-by media’s narrative. Instead, they will live with the mantra, “We won’t get fooled again.”
