President Trump is reportedly urging that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate Hunter Biden. Attorney General William Barr’s tendered resignation is seen as possibly opening the way for such a move. Trump has expressed immense disappointment over Barr’s inactivity on probing the scandal. New details buttress his sentiments. Barr “instructed prosecutors and senior colleagues to prevent word of investigations into Hunter Biden from becoming public” during the campaign season, The Wall Street Journal reported. On Dec. 16, the Associated Press led off with a “breaking” story that Trump is considering sending Hunter down the special prosecutor rabbit hole. How is this breaking news? It means Mr. Trump just may pull the trigger on this one.
Hunter Biden
Tens of millions of Americans refuse to see the elevation of Joe Biden to the presidency as credible in light of what they consider to be widespread evidence of massive electoral fraud in key battleground states. The admission that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation in a criminal matter only furthers distrust of Biden, whom the Electoral College certified as the winner of the 2020 presidential election on Dec. 14.
With news that President Trump seeks to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s controversial business dealings in China and Ukraine, big-box media outlets and Big Tech behemoths are drawing increasing heat for burying the issue during the run-up to the presidential election.
On Dec. 9, the son of Joe Biden confirmed that he is the subject of a federal investigation into his taxes. Establishment media outlets, who had labeled accusations of wrongdoing by Hunter Biden as Russian disinformation two months earlier, duly reported the fact. And social media platforms that were quick to suppress information on the subject in October are now facing heightened scrutiny over their actions.
Biden Donors and Information Gatekeepers
In October, the New York Post broke open the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop being discovered left unclaimed at a Delaware computer repair shop. A trove of data on the laptop revealed shocking details on his activities in the foreign nations and how it related to Joe Biden.
Numerous major revelations emerged. All were ignored by dominant media organizations at the time. Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski declared that Joe Biden knew about his son’s plans to partner with a Chinese oil company on a 2017 investment venture. Following up on this story, the Daily Caller reported Dec. 11 that “Hunter Biden called his father … and his Chinese business partner ‘office mates’ in a Sept. 21, 2017, email to the general manager of his former Washington, D.C. office building.”
“’[P]lease have keys made available for new office mates,’ Hunter Biden wrote in the email before listing Joe Biden, his stepmother Jill Biden, his uncle Jim Biden and Gongwen Dong, who he identified as the ‘emissary’ for the chairman of the now-bankrupt Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC,” the Daily Caller reported.
There was no warning label attached to the publication’s Twitter post on the article. It’s not October anymore.
The big-box media may have displayed incredible willingness to let the story slide until after election day, but what about the social media behemoths? Increasing scrutiny reveals they are not as innocent or disinterested as they made out, with the major players shelling out donations to the Democrat’s campaign.
“Top executives at Facebook and Twitter donated tens of thousands of dollars to … Joe Biden’s campaign, Federal Election Commission records reviewed by Fox News reveal, as the social media platforms come under fire for limiting the circulation of reports surrounding Hunter Biden’s business dealings in the weeks leading up to Election Day,” Fox reported on Dec. 15.
“A Fox News review of FEC records shows that top executives at the social media companies made large donations to the Biden campaign, including several who gave the legal maximum of $2,800,” the network reported on its research. “Fox News identified zero Facebook or Twitter executives who donated to Trump’s campaign.”
Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee want answers. They released a letter Dec. 15 pressing for “an emergency hearing regarding Big Tech’s censorship after both Hunter Biden and the Biden-Harris Transition Team acknowledged that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation regarding his taxes.”
The letter to Committee Chairwoman Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) slammed Facebook and Twitter for their strident efforts to shut down exposure to the Hunter Biden laptop exposé in the run-up to the election. The legislators also slapped corporate media for deigning to accept what was beyond the pale only a few weeks before:
“Indeed, additional reporting from NBC News refers to a 2017 email to Hunter Biden regarding his income from Burisma and ‘need to amend’ Biden’s 2014 tax returns to reflect the ‘unreported’ income. An NBC spokesperson did not dispute the authenticity of the email, which came from a laptop dropped off at a computer hardware store in Delaware – the same laptop and same computer hardware store discussed in the New York Post’s October 14 article censored by Big Tech for being ‘potentially spammy or unsafe.'”
Validity Vacuum
A Rasmussen Reports poll released on Dec. 15 has found that “52% of Likely U.S. Voters [surveyed] think many news organizations ignored the Hunter Biden story to help his father’s presidential campaign.”
“Seventy percent of voters say they have been closely following news reports about Hunter Biden’s business dealings, with 38% who have been following Very Closely,” Rasmussen stated.
“Among those who have been following Very Closely, 76% say the media deliberately ignored the story before Election Day to help Joe Biden” while 72% believe Biden “is likely to have been consulted about and perhaps profited from his son’s overseas dealings.”
An establishment media nexus that openly carried water for the Biden campaign during the 2020 election season has now conceded that a criminal investigation of Hunter Biden has merit. Will there be a Democrat to step up and affirm that a special prosecutor is needed to uncover the full truth about what is undoubtedly a matter with enormous national security implications?
“My priority has been to ensure thorough and independent investigations are allowed to follow the facts wherever they may lead,” House Speaker Paul Ryan exclaimed in early 2017 over the thoroughly discredited Russia Probe as President Trump entered the White House. “The addition of Robert Mueller as special counsel is consistent with this goal, and I welcome his role at the Department of Justice.”
How many Americans can Rasmussen find who believe Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would ever say anything remotely similar about Joe Biden despite evidence that now seems impossible to ignore?
