Trump Weekly Report: Just the Facts – 08.09.20

The words and deeds of President Trump, without the spin.

Editor’s Note: Everyone’s got an opinion, but who has the facts? At LibertyNation.com, we like to say, “Truth is Making a Comeback because Facts Matter.” Each week, we cut through the noise to bring you some of the lesser-reported highlights of the president’s week.

Monday, August 3
President Trump signed two executive orders on “Aligning Federal Contracting and Hiring Practices With the Interests of American Workers” and “Improving Rural Health and Telehealth Access.” He also sent two nominee withdrawals to the Senate. Michael P. O’Reilly, who the president had tapped to join the Federal Communications Commission, and Anthony J. Tata, who was nominated to be Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.

During a later press briefing, the president said: “It’s important for all Americans to recognize that a permanent lockdown is not a viable path toward producing the result that you want, or certainly not a viable path forward, and would ultimately inflict more harm than it would prevent.”

Tuesday, August 4
The president signed into law The Great American Outdoors Act, saying: “After decades of abandonment and neglect, we’re once again taking care of America’s historic sites, lush forests, towering mountains, windswept — and beautiful windswept prairies, and precious wetlands and wildlife.”

Along with Vice President Pence, Mr. Trump took part in the swearing-in of General Charles Brown as Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Brown becomes the first black leader of any branch of the U.S. military.

Wednesday, August 5
In the morning, President Trump was interviewed on Fox News’ morning show, Fox & Friends. Later, he met with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) before participating in virtual campaign events.

Thursday, August 6
The president traveled to Ohio to tour the Whirlpool Corporation Manufacturing Plant in Clyde. He also sent three nominations to the Senate and addressed two letters to the Speaker of the House on the security threats posed by two Chinese mobile apps, TikTok and WeChat.

Friday, August 7
Mr. Trump had no public events scheduled, having traveled the previous evening to his golf club in Bedminster, NJ. On the occasion of National Purple Heart Day, 2020, the president delivered a message which read, in part: “The First Lady and I join a grateful Nation in paying tribute to Purple Heart recipients, their loved ones, and our Gold Star Families.  As one Nation, we pray for the safety of our country’s men and women in uniform—both past and present—and commit to honoring their legacy of service now and for generations to come.”
