Trump Weekly Report: Just The Facts – 06.14.20

The words and deeds of President Trump, without the spin.

Editor’s Note: Everyone’s got an opinion, but who has the facts? At LibertyNation.com, we like to say, “Truth is Making a Comeback because Facts Matter.” Each week, we cut through the noise to bring you some of the lesser-reported highlights of the president’s week.

Monday, June 8

On Monday, President Trump hosted a roundtable with law enforcement representatives. He addressed the growing movement to defund police departments and divert money to social, community, and infrastructure projects. “There won’t be defunding,” Trump said. “There won’t be dismantling of our police. And there’s not going to be any disbanding of our police. Our police have been letting us live in peace.”

Also attending the roundtable were Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General William Barr, and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Addressing the death of George Floyd, the president said: “A thing like happened [sic] should never have happened, and plenty of things shouldn’t have happened. But we can’t give up the finest law enforcement anywhere in the world.”

Tuesday, June 9

The president met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo but had no official public engagements. Trump drew outrage from both Democrats and Republicans when he tweeted about the 75-year-old protester who confronted police in Buffalo, New York, and was shoved to the ground. Trump suggested the man may have been attempting to provoke the police.

Wednesday, June 10

In the White House Cabinet Room, the president hosted a roundtable on race relations. Trump touted his administration’s work on behalf of the black community and sounded a note of optimism on the economy: “I think that the economy will be — next year, will be maybe the best it’s ever been,” he told those present.

In response to calls for the names of Confederate officers to be stripped from US military bases, Trump tweeted: “The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds, and won two World Wars. Therefore, my Administration will not even consider the renaming of these Magnificent and Fabled Military Installations.”

Thursday, June 11

On Thursday, President Trump traveled to Dallas, Texas, to host a roundtable discussion on economic renewal. He later attended a joint fundraising committee dinner at a private residence. In the evening, the president flew to the Trump National Golf Club at Bedminster, NJ.

Friday, June 12

The president had no public events scheduled for Friday. In response to criticism of his plans to hold a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 19, Trump announced that the date for the rally would be moved back one day. June 19 – known as “Juneteenth” – is the day on which the ending of slavery is celebrated.

“We had previously scheduled our #MAGA Rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for June 19th — a big deal,” the president tweeted. “Unfortunately, however, this would fall on the Juneteenth Holiday. Many of my African American friends and supporters have reached out to suggest that we consider changing the date out of respect for this Holiday, and in observance of this important occasion and all that it represents. I have therefore decided to move our rally to Saturday, June 20th, in order to honor their requests.”
