AG Barr to Trump: Give Twitter a Rest!

The president’s tweets are making life difficult for the attorney general.

If his tweeting is any indication, Donald Trump is one of the most transparent presidents ever to hold the office. The commander in chief is definitely not afraid to post his thoughts, no matter who might get offended – which is pretty much everyone on the left. Now, however, the billionaire businessman-turned-leader is getting a bit of pushback from Attorney General William Barr, who says the president’s type-happy fingers are making it difficult to do his job.

This newest onslaught of tweets and Barr’s frustration comes after a sentence of nine years in prison was suggested for Roger Stone for lying under oath, witness tampering, and obstruction of justice. In one session, the president tweeted, “Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought. Evidence now clearly shows that the Mueller Scam was improperly brought & tainted. Even Bob Mueller lied to Congress!”

But it is this tweet that has tweaked the Dems into crying for another impeachment case, this time against the attorney general:

“The President has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case.” [quoting] A.G. Barr[.] This doesn’t mean that I do not have, as President, the legal right to do so, I do, but I have so far chosen not to!”

Barr, who has been a staunch supporter of Trump, denied the left’s allegations that the president is influencing the investigations but suggested the president stop tweeting about Department of Justice (DOJ) affairs.

“I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody … whether it’s Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president. I’m going to do what I think is right. And you know … I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me.”

“Do you go forward with what you think is the right decision or do you pull back because of the tweet? And that just sort of illustrates how disruptive these tweets can be.”

“The President wasn’t bothered by the comments at all and he has the right, just like any American citizen, to publicly offer his opinions,” said White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham. She added that Trump uses social media to fight for the American people and against fake news. “The President has full faith and confidence in Attorney General Barr to do his job and uphold the law,” she said.

The media, however, has gone hog wild over the tweet that they feel proves the president is still trying to abuse his power, just a week after being acquitted on an article of impeachment charging that very thing.

Liberty Nation Legal Affairs Editor Scott D. Cosenza said:

“They [media] want to wish it into the Saturday Night Massacre. But the wants and wishes of CNN/NYT/MSNBC are not a basis for a new impeachment or proof that the last attempt was warranted. The DOJ is an executive agency and the President of the United States is ultimately the one in charge.”

Barr, who said he had already spoken with his staff regarding the proposed Stone sentence and its severity before Trump’s tweet, is now catching flak from the press and the left who are only too eager to suggest he is just another one of the president’s patsies, there to do the commander in chief’s bidding. “Once the tweet occurred, I thought ‘now what do I do,’” Barr said. He reiterated that he has not “discussed the Roger Stone case at the White House.” However, he added: “The fact that the tweet’s out there and correspond to things that we are doing at the department give grist to the mill.”

Fact, speculation, hearsay, conjecture – it matters not because, if it provides the slightest opportunity to damage Trump’s bid for reelection, the Dems are going to go for it like a dog with a bone.
