This week, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has been making the media rounds to peddle her new book, Fascism: A Warning. Despite her lamentations on President Donald Trump, Albright commended him for unleashing America’s military might on Syria and for being tough on Russia.
Albright further championed policies that have destroyed continents, killed scores of innocent people, and enabled the rise of barbaric terrorist outfits. She joined the likes of NBC’s Brian Williams, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, and all the other media personalities and political figures who espoused poetry that would give the military-industrial complex erotic excitement.
On Wednesday, Albright spoke with CNN about the president’s recent aggressive tweet directed at Putin regarding Syria:
“Well, I have to say I agree with him in his description of Putin.
But at least the president has recognized that Putin is not a friend. He is somebody that has very different plans for the Middle East and generally in terms of what he’s doing in undermining democracy in various parts of the world.”
Albright added later in the morning with MSNBC:
“I do think that it is very important to understand what the Russians are doing in Syria. I do think that there needs to be some kind of a plan, not kind of one offs. You do not have tweets about something that is this serious. And that is what worries me.”
Madeleine Albright and Putin
This is in stark contrast to her 2012 remarks in which she slammed former Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) for calling Putin an existential threat. Albright repeated a similar line as then-President Barack Obama, who said fears over Russia belonged in the 20th century, not the 21st century.
How come the left and the media only applaud a supposed North Korea-esque dictator when he bombs a foreign territory and threatens souring relations with a fellow superpower?
The uniting of the left, neocons, and the media is something that President Trump needs to be aware of and concerned about. They aren’t coalescing to support Trump. They are singing his praises on the Syria-Russia file to ensure the continuation of meddling overseas of the last 60-plus years.
It is imperative that Trump must relent from aligning himself with the likes of Albright and even Hillary Clinton, who has also regularly demanded bombing Syria.
Albright: A Deadly Past
Albright was an influential figure in the administration of former President Bill Clinton. She is responsible for a great deal of today’s chaos and bloodshed in the Middle East.
In a May 1996 interview on 60 Minutes, then-U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations conceded that sanctions that led to the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children were “worth it.”
When she was tapped to be Secretary of State, she became instrumental in U.S. policy in Bosnia as well as the Middle East. According to her memoirs, Albright chewed out Colin Powell, who was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, regarding military force. She asked: “What’s the point of you saving this superb military for, Colin, if we can’t use it?”
Throughout 1998, Albright hosted townhalls making the case for military action in Iraq.
During the 2016 election, while campaigning for Hillary Clinton, Albright promised that women would go to hell if they didn’t vote for the worst presidential candidate since President Jimmy Carter.
There’s a reason why Albright is referred to as Monster Madge.
Will Trump Have an Albright Moment?
Before President Trump proceeds any further on this path of conflict with Syria and Russia, he needs to realize whose foreign policy he is implementing. Trump’s base didn’t have an appetite for objectives that could be found in the diaries of Max Boot, Ralph Peters, Clinton, or Jennifer Rubin.
Prior to running for public office and during the 2016 campaign trail, Trump routinely slammed the policies of the last 16 years. He also tore apart his opponent’s hawkish ways, warning the American people of more war if Clinton became president.
Considering that Trump was the peace candidate, it was apparent that the 60 million voters wanted something different. They were – and still are – sick and tired of the foreign interventions, the nation-building, the destruction of continents.
Trump risks repeating the blunders of the past. Remember Iraq? Afghanistan? Libya? Bombing Syria and threatening war with Putin will only embolden creatures from the swamp, not the American people. By satisfying the odious desires of the Counterfeit News Network, Monster Madge, and Crooked Hillary, President Trump could very well appear on 60 Minutes in 20 years and utter the same words as Albright: killing Syrians and (potentially) Russians was “worth it.”
