Gun Classes Exploding Nationwide

While the politicians and the extreme left are figuring out multiple ways to separate you from your gun, the American people are demonstrating remarkable common sense and signing up for concealed carry classes in unprecedented numbers in the wake of the Parkland school shooting.

That’s because the law-abiding citizens of this nation have much more in the way of sound judgment in practical matters than their elected leaders. It also means they are not buying the leftist narrative that more gun-control is going to solve the problem.  They intuitively understand that the best way to reduce their vulnerability to armed maniacs is not to remove the weapon but to arm themselves with knowledge and firepower.

The most prominent and strongest advocate of proper firearm training is the NRA. And while they aren’t touting it, I’d bet my bottom dollar their concealed carry classes are exploding. That’s because it is happening all across the nation.

According to a report in The Washington Times, the National Carry Academy in Minnesota is reporting a 200% increase in concealed carry courses. Meanwhile, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association says new memberships are up by more than 50%.

Shocking? Well no. Not really.

While the left and students are marching, those with a modicum of realism are seeking out the best way to protect themselves. They understand that proper weapon training is going to protect them far better than metal detectors, see-through backpacks or security guards.

They get that a bullet is faster than calling 911. It’s not rocket-science folks – it’s reality. And as the number of gun-control laws continues to balloon across the U.S., people are realizing that legislation is neither sufficient nor does it adequately address the problem. In the U.K., for instance, moves are afoot to ban knives, as reported here by Liberty Nation’s Mark Angelides. The efficacy of such moves is becoming a theatre of the absurd.

Concealed Carry Near You

Open carry was national in scope until 1813 when Louisiana and Kentucky banned concealed weapons. The idea then spread to Virginia, Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee by 1859 with most other states following suit by the mid-1900s.

While there is no federal statute regarding concealed carry, all 50 states now have some sort of law regarding people who carry concealed weapons in public – some states require a permit, others do not. Thus, the issuing of concealed carry permits differs across the country.

Some states mandate several hours of training plus an online course, others fewer hours and more expedient methods. In general, some education is usually involved in the process, and people seem willing to expend their time and energy to get their hands on a permit. So, while the leftists continue railing against firearms and the politicians busy themselves by passing useless laws, the average American is getting real by doing something to protect themselves, their property and their family. It’s plain, old-fashioned common sense at work. And it will eventually mean more citizens will be less likely to allow the gun-grabbers to have their way. Perhaps they are taking Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words to heart: “Common sense is genius dressed in its working clothes.”
