Wild Ride: Busload Threatened by Criminal Alien

by | Jan 19, 2018 | Immigration

After threatening to shoot fellow passengers on a Greyhound bus, Margarito Vargas-Rosas, 33, now faces terror charges and disorderly conduct.  Yes, Vargas-Rosas is a frequent border-jumping illegal from Mexico with a list of previous deportations – and now he’s once again wreaking havoc in our country.

During what ended up a bi-state chase, our felon in question was pacing nervously in the back of the bus, fingering his waistband and drawing an ‘item’ causing other passengers to assume he was armed for the occasion.

For what’s it worth, the bus driver appeared to have not a clue of the ruckus, as he ignored passengers’ loud requests to pull over and the Sheriff’s cars surrounding the bus, lights and sirens ablaze in the cold winter night:

“Racine County Sheriffs quickly located the bus on I-94 in Wisconsin but the bus driver, seemingly unaware of the brouhaha behind him, refused to pull over. He thought that the police were going after somebody else. Authorities thought that the bus had been hijacked and called for backup.”

Well, someone was on the ball that night.  Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said the bus driver “thought it was a training exercise by law enforcement.”  But that makes little sense.

Eventually, spike strips did the trick, and 36 passengers were evacuated safely in Wadsworth, Illinois.   And they were chatty when interviewed:

“While the bus eventually stopped, the driver, according to (Patrick) Dodd, “didn’t stop after the first spike strip, he went on to Illinois” before hitting the second spike strip.”

Another passenger, Terrance Williams of New Jersey, said he thought police were escorting the bus, not realizing what was happening in the back. He was also confused about why the bus driver took so long to pull over.

“The law is, you see emergency lights, you pull over,” Williams said. “(The police) were in front of us, they were in back of us.”

Yes, common sense surfaces in due time.  And in the sage words of Schmaling, “I think he ultimately recognized that this was a serious event when we spiked his tires.”  Twice.

It is with relief that this incident ended without injury.  Sadly, we have seen very different conclusions to most stories involving illegal immigrants who are multiple felons and have been deported numerous times.

My advice; do not even think about deporting this criminal; he’ll just crawl back once the dust settles.  Nope, try him and sentence him to American prison for every single crime and then kick him out for life when and if he gets out. Maybe that will send the message to those who believe they can get away with murder (and have). Far too often, they’re just forced to spend a few uncomfortable months under the scrutiny of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and then waltz back to the bounty that is America.  That practice needs to cease immediately.  Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law for all crimes—including minor offenses and illegal status—lock them up in their own prison with consecutive sentences for each crime on American soil, and then throw them right back across the border.
