Nigel Farage, the man responsible for the success of Brexit and former UKIP leader, has appeared in Washington D.C. to give a speech on what he feels is happening in America. The oration was presented at the Young America’s Foundation conference. In his own inimitable style, Farage pulls no punches and covers myriad topics from the Left and Hillary to markets and the Trump Agenda; as always — with a conservative crowd — he was well received.
Mr. Farage has been a supporter of President Trump since his early days on the campaign trail; he sees a kindred spirit in terms of “fighting the Establishment” and believes that President Trump is one of the few politicians willing to put “Country before Party.” His thoughts on Hillary Clinton are not quite so generous: “I think if Hillary Clinton is an enemy of mine, I’m in a pretty good place.” He continues:
“They absolutely hate me and you know what? The feeling’s mutual,” Mr. Farage said of the European Union, urging students to remember that “nation matters,” and despite what they might be called by peers, or how they would be attacked on social media for being conservatives, they needed to remain true to these values. “Those on the hard left of politics are plain, blooming, nasty, people,” he remarked.
Since the Brexit campaign successfully concluded, Nigel has been splitting his time between foreign and domestic matters. At home in the UK, he has been keeping the Tory Governments’ feet to the fire with the European Union negotiation (essentially to ensure there is no “backsliding”). And further afield, he has been working hard at promoting “common sense” politics. His latest venture is trying to make the world aware of what an enormous disaster has been perpetrated on Europe by Germany’s Chancellor Merkel and her folly in inviting migrants to freely travel to Europe.
For several years, Nigel Farage was abused and harassed; not just through the media, but in the streets, in the pub with his children, and pretty much everywhere he went. The political class spurned him and the celebrities mocked him. The only issue was…the people really seem to love him. He is certainly one of the most divisive figures in Britain’s political landscape, yet due to a “Winner Takes All” electoral system (which essentially mean the Legacy Parties have an inbuilt advantage), he has failed to win a seat in the British Parliament. Nigel’s political journey is not at an end, no matter how much he may want it to be.
Nigel Farage has dedicated most of his adult life to fighting for Conservative values; he has in some respects taught a whole new generation of British youngsters what it means to be a Proud Briton. The UK owes him a huge debt of gratitude, and as the sclerotic EU begins to crumble, other nations will be offering him their thanks, too.
