The Millennial View: The “Impact” of Toxic Whiteness

A phrase often heard among liberals today is “toxic whiteness.” The phrase refers to the abuse of so-called “white privilege” by white Americans. The ignorance from those preaching on toxic whiteness is staggering. Could the far left please explain to the 4.2 million white children living in poverty in the US how exactly these kids are privileged?

Toxic whiteness is such a pressing issue for the left that Everyday Feminism designed a ten-week course — costing nearly three hundred dollars — to cure white Americans of their “disease.” According to the course’s website, toxic whiteness training aims to answer questions such as, “Why is it so hard, as a white person, to do anti-racism work?”

Everyday Feminism also offers training sessions against toxic whiteness that each span over two hours in length. If only the far left put that much commitment and effort into actual issues facing the nation or into working.

The phrase “toxic whiteness” stems not from white Americans’ ignorance of their supposed privilege, but from fear tactics by the left that attempt to keep many minorities in the oppressive mental state that says “I cannot get ahead in life because I am not white.” This oppressive mindset is beneficial to the liberal agenda. By unfairly putting the blame on white Americans, the left is distracting from failed leftist political tactics that have ravaged many minority communities.

Unless the left is referring to their own white politicians, the reason for high poverty rates among some minority groups is not white Americans. Oddly, when the far left accuses whites of oppressing helpless minorities, they denote few groups as minorities: specifically, blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims. Is it any surprise that the noted minority groups the left frequently demeans as oppressed by toxic whiteness mostly vote for the Democratic Party?

Minority groups which largely agree with the leftist agenda seem to be the only ones oppressed by white Americans.

The lie spread by leftists that white Americans are the reason for struggling minorities is nothing short of deeply divisive and ignorant. The attempt to guilt today’s whites into believing they are responsible for high unemployment rates among certain minority groups and for slavery is one of the most widespread means of propaganda used by the left today.

These lies are also demeaning in that they presume all minorities to be struggling victims. As a hardworking Puerto Rican woman, I can assure you that I am not oppressed by toxic whiteness. Instead of “raising awareness” against toxic whiteness, the left should be working to increase opportunity for all Americans.
