McCain Ups the Ante on Betrayal

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has always been ready and willing to serve as an enabler for the left.  He has so often done their dirty work for them, serving as the most useful of useful idiots in order to make himself attractive to an establishment media perpetually in search of Republicans who are ready to eat their own.

But now he has taken it to another level, turning from a uniquely annoying, self-aggrandizing irritant to an out-and-out betrayer or even borderline traitor:

Republican Senator John McCain broke with the reassuring message that U.S. officials visiting Germany have sought to convey on their debut trip to Europe, saying on Friday that the administration of President Donald Trump was in “disarray”.

McCain, a known Trump critic, told the Munich Security Conference that the resignation of the new president’s security adviser Michael Flynn over his contacts with Russia reflected deep problems in Washington.

“I think that the Flynn issue obviously is something that shows that in many respects this administration is in disarray and they’ve got a lot of work to do,” said McCain…

It’s one thing to criticize a president of your own party here in the U.S.  It’s quite another to do it on foreign soil, even if that president is of the other party.  Such criticism has been justly denounced even when applied to former presidents, as when Jimmy Carter criticized President George W. Bush abroad.

But it is hard to recall a senator ever attempting to take down a president of his own party beyond the water’s edge.

You will recall my recent chronicling of the long pattern of betrayals by Sen. McCain, in league with his equally annoying and hapless soul mate Sen Lindsey Graham (R-SC).  These camera-hungry RINOs are widely reviled by rank-and-file Republicans, and are relevant only because the media wants them to be.

And the left eats this stuff up.  Consider the washed-up lunatic leftist Keith Olbermann, who names McCain and Graham as his Republican heroes in the midst of a rant calling for the arrest of Michael Flynn.

Does the GOP not have enough party discipline to admonish or even just informally sanction or internally discipline this persistent fly in their every ointment?

The message from Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other GOP leaders to McCain should be simple: Senator, If you don’t like your party, as you have consistently demonstrated over your thirty years in the Senate, then leave – or become a Democrat or the “maverick” independent portrayed by your friends in the media.

And don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
