On a MAX train in Portland, Oregon last Friday, locally recognized white nationalist Jeremy Joseph Christian stabbed three men, killing two of the victims. The stabbing occurred after the three men began arguing with Christian in an attempt to defend a hijab-wearing teenage girl who was being verbally harassed by Christian. The white nationalist began stabbing the men during the argument. According to KGW8 News Portland, authorities charged Christian with aggravated murder, attempted murder, hate crimes, and possession of a weapon while a felon.
Many Americans are now questioning why officials did not more closely monitor Jeremy Christian preceding the attack. It seemed likely that Christian could carry out a dangerous attack at any moment, especially given his criminal history, which included first-degree robbery and second-degree kidnapping. However, his social media usage may have been the most significant warning sign.
In 2016, Facebook removed a post by Christian in which he wrote that he would give a “one shot kill” to Jews, as captured by Buzzfeed News. Christian referred to the post being taken down as an attack on free speech and stated “Die Haters!!!” and that he would “kill the entire world.”
Last April, Christian made another Facebook post praising Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, part of which stated, “May all the Gods Bless Timothy McVeigh a TRUE PATRIOT!!!” On May 9th in another Facebook post, Christian said he wanted to behead those in Norway who circumcise babies. The warning signs preceding the attack by Christian are striking.
The night before the Friday murder, a black woman reportedly pepper sprayed Christian after he shouted racial slurs and threw a bottle of Gatorade at her on a MAX train. Later in the night, Christian boarded another MAX train where one woman recorded him conversing on the phone about wanting to stab someone and hating Christians, Muslims, and Jews. According to Koin6 News Portland, when others on the train became startled by his conversation, Christian cursed:
You don’t like it? You got a problem with what I’m saying? F*** all you Christians and Muslims and f****** Jews , f****** die. Burn you at the stake… f****** die.
Christian was not asked to exit the bus, and riders and the driver did not notify authorities of his behavior.
Since the stabbing, the mainstream media has politicized the incident by blaming the stabbing on the supposed hatred inspired by President Trump. Jill Stein further politicized the deaths of the three innocent citizens on the train by referring to the attack as “Another heartbreaking tragedy in Trump’s America.” However, what the mainstream media will not expose is how Christian was a reverent Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein supporter and that he did not vote for President Trump during the general election. In a Facebook screenshot captured by Liberty Nation, Christian posted in January that he wished to kill all who voted for President Trump or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
According to Oregon Public Broadcasting, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) has also politicized the issue. The mayor has recently attempted to revoke a permit for the “Trump Free Speech Rally” and the “March Against Sharia” set to take place next month. Mayor Wheeler urged supporters of the rallies to “stay away from Portland” and stated that such demonstrations inspired the bigoted attack by Jeremy Christian. Those on the right, however, have rejected Christian. At Portland’s Free Speech Rally last April, Jeremy Christian was ejected from the event for threatening to beat protestors with a bat, as reported by the Portland Mercury Newspaper. Organizers of the event refused to allow him back in the rally.
The establishment media is distastefully politicizing and obscuring the Portland attack, which is surely not what the victims would have wanted. As reported by CBS News, a woman on the train overheard the last words of one of the deceased victims Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche were, “I want everybody on the train to know, I love them.” It is not the time for divisive partisan politics, but a time to honor the deceased and injured heroes on the MAX Portland train.
