In a stunning display of executive overreach, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown decreed on May 1 that she is extending her powers to maintain the government-mandated lockdown of her state’s citizens for another two months. Luckless Oregonians will now be required to bunker in their homes until at least July 6, unless the governor rules otherwise. The Beaver State has recorded only 109 COVID-19 deaths as of May 2.

“I find that the novel infectious coronavirus continues to threaten public health and safety,” the governor declared in her executive order. Brown’s imperial edict neatly illustrates how power-intoxicated elected officials, mainly Democrats, are using the findings of their self-appointed health “experts” to justify extending their tyrannical dominion over the allegedly free citizens of the locales they supposedly “serve.”

Do What She Says or You’re Gonna Die

Brown’s Coronavirus response leans heavily on research from the Institute for Disease Modeling (IDM). The latest forecast by this outfit warned that Oregon would see a “dramatic increase in new coronavirus infections should the state too quickly ease restrictions imposed to slow the spread of the disease,” The Oregonian newspaper reported on April 30, one day before Brown’s executive order. “This epidemic is clearly very sensitive to changes in policies or public adherence to community mitigation strategies,” the IDM model authors proclaimed. Did you get that? These “experts” anointed by an ambitious governor are stating, as if scientific fact, that reversing her decision to shut down an entire state will lead to a more virulent outbreak of the virus.

IDM “is an institute within the Global Good Fund, a collaboration between Intellectual Ventures and Bill and Melinda Gates,” the organization states on its website. Microsoft multi-billionaire and globalist health enthusiast Bill Gates is on the record as stating of the Coronavirus crisis that “[i]t is fair to say things won’t go back to truly normal until we have a vaccine that we’ve gotten out to basically the entire world.”

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation chief executive Mark Suzman has echoed his boss’s sentiments. “There are 7 billion people on the planet,” Suzman says. “We are going to need to vaccinate nearly every one.”

The governor mirrored this language to the letter as she unveiled her further imposition on the personal liberties of Oregonians. “Make no mistake, physical distancing will remain part of our daily lives until we have security of a vaccine or a treatment for the disease,” Brown said on May 1. How convenient for her. It reportedly may take well more than a year to develop a Coronavirus vaccine, if it happens at all. Such a scenario would enable Brown to continue issuing diktats to the people of Oregon indefinitely. Her personal autocracy over their lives is assured for the foreseeable future.

Prescription for a Borderless World

Do Oregonians really relish the notion of being locked down for another two months at the behest of a despotic governor using Bill Gates and his health organizations as pseudo-scientific cover? Perhaps it would behoove them to look more closely at Gates’ more prominent “experts.”

The Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington is another health research group heavily funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since its founding. As with the Institute for Disease Modeling, IHME has been elevated by the establishment news media and leading elected officials as an authority on when Americans can leave their homes. The organization made national headlines on April 22 when it released a state-by-state chart of the various dates when it deemed lockdowns could be eased or ended. IHME pushed for much longer timetables than previously imagined for several states. Florida was advised to remain locked down until mid-June “or later” and North Dakota, bizarrely, until July 12. IHME urged that Oregon not relax its restrictions until the last week of May.

University of Miami President Julio Frenk is the board chair for IHME. In 1997, he co-authored a paper titled “The New World Order and International Health.” The text was every bit as explicit as that heading. In an increasingly globalized world, “[n]ations no longer represent truly independent, sovereign countries,” Frenk and his associates wrote.

Frenk also co-wrote a 2014 article for the prestigious medical journal The Lancet titled “From Sovereignty to Solidarity: A Renewed Concept of Global Health for an Era of Complex Interdependence.” In it he stated that “[t]he challenge is that in a world of sovereign states, there is no hierarchical authority or world government to fill in the gaps. Rather, there is only a relatively weak system of multilateral institutions built on the shaky foundations of the consent of sovereign states.”

The solution to this problem?

“…[G]eneration of the political will within states to share their sovereignty… will require a far more fundamental transformation in the long term — the gradual construction of a global society.”

Oregonians will now be saying goodbye to a good chunk of their summer. If it consoles them any, they are getting to feed the personal megalomania of a nanny-state progressive governor as they help usher in Bill Gates’ brave new global health order. Who wouldn’t want to stay inside all June for that?
