Beto-Mania Fails to Derail Cruz Campaign

by | Oct 20, 2018 | Articles, Politics, The Left

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic challenger, Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso, took to the stage for one of the most heated debates in this election cycle. But judging by the headlines in the legacy media, many people may actually be confused about how badly O’Rourke was defeated.

O’Rouke is the latest darling of the left. As well as raking in over $38 million last quarter in donations, the media has run countless profiles on how he represents the future of the Democratic Party – a title apparently stripped from New York candidate and socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Despite being down almost double digits in the polls to Cruz, the media has shifted into overdrive and is doing almost everything imaginable to spin the recent debate as if O’Rourke was not heavily outmatched and verbally dismantled by Cruz.

Lyin’ Ted

One of the most notable moments during the debate came when O’Rourke referred to Cruz as “Lyin’ Ted.” The Texas Democrat is so desperate that he’s now pulling quotes from President Donald Trump, the leader of the party he claims is ruining the country.

“Senator Cruz is not going to be honest with you. He’s going to make up positions and votes that I’ve never held or that I’ve never taken,” O’Rourke said. “It’s why the president called him ‘Lyin’ Ted’ and it’s why the nickname stuck. Because it’s true.”

Cruz laughed off the comment, and pointed out that the Democrat contender’s desperation was more than apparent. Rather than debate Cruz on policy or ideas, O’Rourke took a deep dive into the gutter and attempted to engage in mud-slinging. But Cruz brought his A-game, and dropped the hammer on the Texas Democrat.

“Well its clear Congressman O’Rourke’s pollsters told him to come out on the attack. O’Rourke is the only Democratic Senate nominee in the country who has explicitly come out for impeaching President Trump,” Cruz said. He added:

“I think we should focus on substance and not inflammatory rhetoric. Yet you know I will say it was striking and at this press conference in D.C. about civility, Congressman O’Rourke again repeated his call for impeaching President Trump. That’s the very essence of not civility. If we had impeachment next year we’d see utter chaos. We would see an end to the repeal of the job killing regulations that’s fueling our economic growth.”

Cruz went on to explain that if O’Rourke wins the election – which is highly unlikely – he will only help Democrats further advance the political circus and smear tactics. Cruz warned that O’Rourke would support impeachment against Trump, and help undo many of the very policies that have resulted in the booming U.S. economy and roaring markets.

Supports Impeachment

Cruz also hit back hard on O’Rourke for supporting radical ideas such as repealing the GOP tax cuts, admitting he wouldn’t have voted to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, and not outright condemning the growing leftist idea of abolishing Immigration Customs and Enforcement.

But almost immediately after the debate, the media and activists disguised as journalists immediately pulled the same two words from the debate to claim O’Rourke performed well: Lyin’ Ted.

CNN published a piece titled, “O’Rourke: ‘Lyin’ Ted’ resonates because it’s true.” The far-left Daily Kos published analysis on why the audience found it so hilarious that O’Rourke called Cruz a liar, and the liberal Daily Dot wrote a glowing piece praising O’Rourke for reviving Trump’s “brutal nickname for Ted Cruz during debate.”

Inaccurate article headlines and left-leaning analysis have been rampant, with liberals desperate to flip Texas from red to blue. While many left-leaning websites wrote catchy headlines, the real meat of the article indicated that Cruz delivered a verbal beat down and forced the Texas Democrat into admitting many of the far-left policies his supports, such as impeachment.

Ironically enough, perhaps no one has had a more apt headline than Vanity Fair: “BETO O’ROURKE, DEMOCRATIC DREAMBOAT, IS GETTING HIS ASS KICKED IN TEXAS.”

Skateboards and Guitars

The media still hasn’t learned the lesson from 2016 that being heavily funded by liberal donors and Hollywood elites does not automatically translate into winning an election. Just ask Hillary Clinton, who blew through $2 billion and lost handily to Trump.

The media is largely obsessed with O’Rourke because he can ride a skateboard and play the guitar. But that’s not on the ballot, his far-left policies are. And Cruz forced him to admit, in part, that his goal was to undo much of what Trump has accomplished. That’s not going to sit well with many Texans.
