As the outside world continues to roundly condemn the looming death sentence imposed on a Pakistani Christian woman convicted of blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad, hardline Muslims have hit the streets in major cities demanding that the execution be carried out.
Asia Bibi, a Catholic mother of five, has languished on death row since 2010 after being convicted of the charge in a case that started over a drink of water. Picking fruit in a field on a sweltering day, Bibi offered a drink of water to-co-workers. They reacted by lashing out at her for making the water unclean for Muslims to consume after she drank from it and calling on her to convert to Islam. Bibi refused and was then alleged to have uttered an insult against Muhammad.
Rising Radicals
The Pakistani Supreme Court could rule on her final appeal by the end of October. The Pakistani city of Lahore was the site of major protests by radical Muslims against Bibi on Oct. 12, with protesters holding up signs calling for her to be hanged. The protests were spearheaded by a rising political party in the nation, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), which was created in 2015 as a vehicle to support Pakistan’s strict anti-blasphemy laws.
In its first general elections foray, TLP garnered over 2.23 million votes in Pakistan’s national assembly balloting in July. It also attracted over 2.38 million votes in provincial elections, Agence France-Presse reports.
“Their overall number of votes is very surprising. It’s a really spectacularly rapid rise,” political commentator Fasi Zaka told AFP. The execution of Bibi is a core plank in the TLP’s current anti-blasphemy campaign.
Millions of Pakistanis are rushing to embrace a political party that is stridently demanding the hanging of a Christian mother for allegedly saying things they didn’t like in a conversation over a drink of water. If she isn’t executed, there is still the fact that she has been left to rot in a cell for eight-plus years over the matter. Will it be considered “leniency” if her life is spared after such an ordeal?
Coming to America?
Now consider this. In this age of unchecked Third World immigration into the West, this barbaric mindset is being imported into our nations along with the unassimilable foreigners brought over to “enrich” us.
There were 409,163 Pakistani origin people in the United States, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. That meant the Pakistani population in America doubled between 2000 and 2009, a Pew Research Center report details.
Pakistani-Americans have become the second-fastest growing Asian-American group in the U.S. Census data also show that 86% of them in the U.S. don’t speak English at home. With the rampant rise of radical Islam back in Pakistan, there is every reason to be alarmed by these figures. Are these people being properly vetted?
Murder in the UK
Just look at the U.K., which has dealt with an even larger inundation of Pakistanis than the U.S. Â There are 1.17 million Pakistanis residing in Britain, the largest number in all of Europe. One of them, Tanveer Ahmed, living in Scotland, murdered a member of a minority Pakistani Muslim sect in March 2016 for what he considered to be blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad.
The same month of the murder, the leader of Scotland’s largest mosque publicly praised a Pakistani who killed a local politician back home for voicing his support for Asia Bibi.
Mumtaz Qadri assassinated Salmaan Taseer, governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province, in 2011 over his opposition to the nation’s blasphemy laws. After Qadri was executed for the crime in February 2016, over 100,000 mourners attended his funeral.
“I cannot hide my pain today. A true Muslim was punished for doing which [sic] the collective will of the nation failed to carry out,” read one of the messages Imam Maulana Habib Ur Rehman of Glasgow Central Mosque posted on the online platform WhatsApp, the BBC reports.
Meanwhile, around the same time as this cleric’s comments and not even a month after Qadri’s execution, Ahmed drove his licensed Uber taxi 200 miles to Glasgow to brutally murder shopkeeper Asad Shah. In Pakistan, he is now considered a hero among the same radical Muslims who revere Qadri.
Some 400 people rallied outside Ahmed’s family’s home in Mirpur in 2017 in support of his horrific act on Scottish soil, the BBC reported. Islamic cleric Khadim Rizvi, founder of the TLP party that is currently exploding in popularity in Pakistan, promotes Qadri and Ahmed together as defenders of the Prophet. Rizvi told the BBC that he has spoken regularly by phone with the imprisoned Ahmed, who the news outlet reports has cited Qadri as inspiring him to kill. These are Pakistanis at home and abroad united in support of killing those who they believe disrespect Muhammad.
Americans are appalled that a Muslim nation is considering executing a Christian mother over a conversation. Meanwhile, their country is importing hundreds of thousands of Muslims from that same nation, the vast majority of whom do not speak English in their homes. Sympathy for Asia Bibi is well-warranted. But how about some sympathy for our fellow citizens who will unwittingly enter the licensed Uber taxi of the next Tanveer Ahmed?
