The Biden Justice Department’s special counsel, Robert Hur, recommends no criminal charges be brought against President Joe Biden regarding the classified documents found in his Delaware home and in his think-tank office in Washington, DC. In a nearly 350-page report released Thursday, February 8, special counsel Hur revealed that Biden held onto classified documents after leaving the Obama administration and becoming a private citizen – and that he even disclosed some of this material to his ghost writers. But, according to this report, the evidence doesn’t establish Biden’s guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.”
“We conclude that no criminal charges are warranted in this matter,” Hur’s report states. “We would reach the same conclusion even if the Department of Justice policy did not foreclose criminal charges against a sitting president.”
This report officially closes the investigation into the president sparked by the November 2022 discovery of classified documents in his offices at the Penn Biden Center in the nation’s capital. This contrasts sharply with the 40 felony counts against former President Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents after his own presidency.
