Republican Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) held a press conference early Thursday morning (Nov. 17) presenting the investigations they are implementing into Biden family business scandals. Hot on the heels of winning the lower chamber majority, the two GOPers came out of the gate setting out the questions they see as imperative in launching their probes.
Specifically, Mr. Jordan highlighted the letter from 51 former National Security officials who “debunked” the Hunter Biden laptop story as having “all the earmarks” of a Russian disinformation campaign. And also why present government officials felt that was a worthwhile basis upon which to approach social media companies in order to limit the spread of the details.
Energy Scams?
Mr. Comer also detailed claims that the Biden family owned a significant percentage of a Chinese energy company at the same time as winding down America’s energy independence. The lawmaker also outlined how President Biden “changed the rules” on how funds coming into America were recorded on “suspicious activity reports.” Comer explained that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was confused by the change in reporting.
These reports flag every transaction within a specific time period; Comer put forward the case that they can track how Hunter Biden’s spending directly involved Joe Biden. The Republicans say they intend to determine the level of involvement by President Biden and whether he is “compromised” by such activity.

Rep. Jordan said that the Biden administration has not yet responded to any correspondence from the committees and has, in fact, set up a task force to fight back against the investigations.
Abuse and Fraud
On the subject of how political the Justice Department has become, Jordan responded that a number of whistleblowers had come forward outlining what they claim are certain abuses of power. Comer said that the Biden family “flourished and became millionaires by simply offering access to the family.” The lawmakers further alleged that Hunter and Joe Biden participated in “waste, fraud, and abuse” in their international business dealings.
“This is an investigation of Joe Biden,” Comer said, and detailed many concerns including conspiracy, wire fraud, human trafficking and more. This news conference coming on the heels of the GOP majority in the house signals Republicans are ready to play hardball.
