Perhaps the quality of people running for office is one of America’s biggest problems. It is entirely possible that the word “perhaps” is not even needed in this case. Project Veritas has uncovers Democrat dirty tricks in South Carolina, and it leads one to consider that maybe candidates for Congress should undergo the same scrutiny as, say, a prospective gun buyer. Leaked audio of a phone call between Krystle Matthews, a Democrat candidate for the US Senate, and an inmate at the Perry Correctional Institution in Pelzer, SC, revealed some disturbing election tactics Matthews thinks her party should employ.
In the recording, posted on Twitter, Matthews speaks with her trusted but imprisoned confidant about infiltrating the Republican Party to destroy it from the inside. “We need some secret sleepers,” she tells the unidentified prisoner. “Like, we need … we need them to run for the other side, even though they for [sic] our side.” She continues, “We need people to run as Republicans in these local elections. This is the only way you’re gonna change the dynamic, in South Carolina.” It soon becomes clear Matthews is not merely suggesting that Democrats run as Republicans and then pursue leftist policies. No, her agenda is destruction. “When we get enough of us in there,” Matthews goes on, “we can wreak havoc for real from the inside out. Then we can flip some s— from the inside out.”
This isn’t the only thing on the candidate’s mind, however. Betraying a striking sense of entitlement, Matthews, who is black and a member of South Carolina’s State House of Representatives, proceeds to disparage black voters who haven’t contributed to her campaign. “And I still gotta struggle to raise money for my campaign?” she rants, clearly dumbfounded that people have the nerve to withhold their hard-earned cash from her. “Where the f— is my black people with money?” Where that money would come from did not appear to concern Matthews:
“I don’t care about no dope money. Gimme that dope boy money! S—, where the f— dope? Where the duffel bag boys? Get you … find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that s— under they names.”

The man to whom Matthews is talking finds this amusing and chuckles. Then the Democrat has some serious words of scorn for black Americans who don’t support her campaign financially. “Honestly, these ain’t the type of black people I grew up around,” she complains. “I don’t recognize these black people.” She goes on to brag about her bona fides as a – well, she uses the N-word to describe herself – before getting back to election tactics. “We need some folks that can wear all black at night and take down they f— yard signs when they … when they sleeping.”
Political ideology aside, the people of South Carolina certainly deserve to know the caliber of those who seek to represent them in Congress. It might be a stretch to expect elected officials to always be entirely honest, truthful, principled, and upstanding. But is it possible that perhaps Matthews displays all the characteristics one would surely hope not to find in a person who will be writing and supporting or opposing federal legislation that affects millions of Americans?
