Trump Weekly Report: Just The Facts – 01.26.20

Editor’s Note: Everyone’s got an opinion, but who has the facts? At LibertyNation.com, we like to say, “Truth is Making a Comeback because Facts Matter.” So, each week, our editorial staff combs through the noise to bring you the highlights of what the president did and said.

January 21 – The president gave the opening speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He met with a variety of world leaders, including President Salih of Iraq and President Barzani of Kurdistan. He also approved the disaster declaration in North Dakota, ordering federal assistance to help state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in areas affected by severe flooding.

January 22 – President Trump left Switzerland for Washington Wednesday and weighed in via Twitter on the impeachment trial so far. He appreciated the support of the GOP, but was disappointed by the Democrats’ remarks.

January 23 – The president declared Thursday that his administration was taking action to end birth tourism – the practice in which aliens come to the United States simply to give birth so that their children are born American citizens. He proposes a number of preventative measures, including limiting welfare benefits and housing assistance.

January 24 – President Trump attended the March for Life, becoming the first president to do so. Other presidents have called or mailed in their remarks, but Trump is the only one to ever attend in person or livestream (2018). In honor of School Choice Week, President Trump called on Congress to approve a Federal tax credit to support State-based educational choice programs. He met with mayors from across the nation to discuss a variety of topics, ranging from job creation to immigration. He signed two bills into law, as well. The Preventing Illegal Radio Abuse Through Enforcement Act, or the PIRATE Act, enhances penalties for pirate radio broadcasters. The Securing American Nonprofit Organizations Against Terrorism Act of 2019 authorizes DHS to establish a security grant program that would help fund target hardening and other security enhancements for nonprofits.
