Soros Spends Big on Democrat Criminal Justice Agenda

Progressive billionaire is methodically taking over inner core of Democrat Party.

We’ve seen what happens when big money gets involved in politics. But what happens when big money in the hands of one of the world’s most powerful individuals is liberally spread around to get sympathetic voices elected? Activist billionaire George Soros has been peppering elections across the country with funding in attempts to install his own favored candidates into the judicial and political systems. Such was the path to success for Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, as well as new Virginia DAs Parisa Dehghani-Tafti and Steve Descano.

Soros People

Who is Larry Krasner? A self-proclaimed “completely unelectable progressive,” he was a career defense attorney famous for representing radical groups whose members were arrested at unruly protests. “He has defended, normally at no cost, protesters at RNC 2000 and DNC 2016, members of ACT UP, Black Lives Matter … DACA Dreamers … Occupy Philly and Reclaim Philadelphia … and opponents of the death penalty,” his 2017 campaign website stated.

Krasner had zero prosecutorial experience when he ran as the “most progressive” candidate in the 2017 Philly DA Democratic field. He promised to “end mass incarceration,” “stop pursuing death sentences,” and “protect immigrants.” Krasner’s victory was ensured when George Soros funded his campaign to the tune of $1.5 million, via a Philadelphia pop-up branch of the donor’s Justice and Public Safety PAC. After winning, Krasner shrugged off the hefty contributions, saying he had never met the man. His campaign did acknowledge however that he has met with Whitney Tymas, who regularly serves as treasurer for fly-by-night local chapters of the Justice and Public Safety PAC. Soros had his man.

One episode aptly sums up Krasner’s political priorities: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement requested that Honduran illegal alien Juan Ramon Vasquez be detained by Philadelphia police after a 2014 arrest. Alas, Philadelphia is a “sanctuary city.” Vasquez was cut loose and later raped a 5-year-old girl. In 2018, Krasner took great umbrage at federal criticism over the case, going so far as to blame President Trump’s efforts to increase deportations for illegal alien sex crimes. “The Trump administration has made it so that immigrant children can get raped because they’re afraid to call the police,” he said of the Vasquez scandal.

And now Soros is at it again. Two Northern Virginia progressives defeated incumbent DAs on June 11 to win Democratic primaries in the heavily blue D.C. suburban area. The similarities between Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, who won in Arlington County, and the Krasner template are uncanny. Dehghani-Tafti is a defense lawyer who has never prosecuted a case in state court. And her campaign promises mirror Krasner’s almost to the letter. Her campaign website declares that she will pursue numerous ways to reduce incarceration rates, will “never seek the death penalty,” and will “protect immigrants.”

Soros reportedly backed her campaign and that of Steve Descano in Fairfax County to the tune of nearly $1 million. The seated incumbents they ran against were powerless against such astronomical financing in small, local elections.

Party Crasher

George Soros has been funding local DA elections for years now. The Washington Times reported that he spent more than $7 million on local prosecutor elections in at least ten states from 2015-2016. The wealthy patron is not just trying to control local DA offices, though that is no doubt a major objective. He is quietly yet acquisitively building a political machine within the rank-and-file of the Democratic Party. And his plan is working. Soros has just seen one of his long-serving agents get elected as Dem party state chair in Wisconsin.

This is how you control who eventually runs for higher office in a political party. In the days of machine politics, party leaders would hold major sway over the local corridors to future national electoral viability. But there is a void in the Democratic Party today. An aged command led by the likes of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is too busy worrying about how to cling to personal power for a few more precious years to address the infrastructure of future leadership for the party. Pelosi is 79 and has accumulated an estimated net worth of over $100 million from her decades of prime residency at the Swamp trough. If that figure proves anything, it shows that Nancy Pelosi’s prime concern is herself. Her self-serving deal with younger progressives to regain the speaker’s gavel evinces an “after me the deluge” attitude toward the future of the party. This has created an opening that is being greedily filled by Soros and similar moneyed progressives at every opportunity.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) is a top candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination, after rising through the party ranks via the prosecutorial system. Soros is creating a pathway to gain radical progressive control of avenues of growth within the Democratic Party. The Old Guard Dems have done nothing to slow his efforts. Well advanced in years and thoroughly well-fed, they do not seem to mind that the ground is being laid for their eventual replacement, as long as the process does not disturb their comfortable seats at the table any time soon.
