Woodward’s Book: Democracy Killers and Thieves

With the release of excerpts from Bob Woodward’s latest book, Fear: Trump in the White House, activist journalists and the complicit press have completely failed to highlight the most damning statement so far released. Woodward describes something so shocking that all American’s should feel disgust and fear – yet silence reigns.

No, it’s not accusations that White House chief of staff John Kelly described President Trump as an “idiot,” (which he denies), nor is it claims that a spiteful atmosphere exists between various staffers. The unexamined, ignored crime is far worse for the American republic.

A Law Unto Themselves

Woodward’s book suggests that White House staffers would routinely “snatch papers” from the president’s desk so that Trump would not see them. He alleges they did this so he “couldn’t see them or follow through on what they believed would be catastrophic decisions on trade or national security.”

And here’s the rub.

In what universe is this not the biggest story? Unelected staffers choosing – based on their own opinions – to deny the elected President of the United States access to information based on what they think is best for the country!

First, this is clearly a major crime. But more importantly, it displays an arrogance and hubris that belies belief. To assume that you yourself are in a better position to judge what decisions should be made for the nation, and then to take action on that decision is more than folly, it is grandiose idiocy that denies the rights of millions of people from using their vote to create change.

Only in the D.C. Swamp could such creatures exist. They have taken it upon themselves to be above the president in deciding which courses of action the nation should take. In doing so, they have disenfranchised every single voter and made themselves the final arbiter in the country’s future.

But, of course, if their decision to deny the president the full range of facts results in catastrophic consequences, they will rest secure in their anonymity.

A Damaged Democracy

Is it possible that in their minds, these paper-snatching nobodies believe they are saving America? Surely, we could perhaps forgive an individual for doing what they think it right and just, but they did not come forward to tell the world of their actions … they remain hidden in the dark, ready to apply their intent over millions of citizens again and again.

They are dangerous, they are activists filled with a sense of their own superiority. Not just superiority over Donald J. Trump, but over you and I, over every single person who casts a vote – regardless of whether that was a vote for Trump or Clinton.

And they will continue. Why? Because the media has given them a free pass, thus justifying (in their minds) their actions. Every media organization that does not denounce these mini-dictators, these proto-fascists, bear responsibility for the theft of our agency and our Constitutional rights.

By what right do these thieves in the night steal the basis of a republic? And by what right do a complicit media seek to make these killers of democracy “heroes” in a fight against the American people?
