Well, it finally happened. The 60 Minutes interview with porn star Stormy Daniels aired on Sunday, and the left-wing media couldn’t be happier. They seem to believe that her alleged affair with President Donald Trump will cause irreparable harm to his presidency.

Indeed, many in the news media have been trumpeting this saga for months. And now, thanks to Anderson Cooper and 60 Minutes, we finally get to hear the lurid allegations straight from Daniels’ mouth. Unfortunately for the left, this story will likely not provide the smoking gun they believe it will.

The Left Is Ecstatic Over The Stormy Daniels Interview

After the interview, several left-wing news outlets published stories indicating that the president is in a precarious position because of the interview. CNN posted a piece titled “After Stormy’s big interview, Trump faces the storm alone.” How dramatic! Not to be outdone, The New York Times put up an article with the headline “How Stormy Daniels Out-Trumped Trump.” Rolling Stone also got into the act with a piece titled “One Night with Stormy Daniels, the Hero America Needs.”

Apparently, Stormy Daniels has become the left’s new darling — the weapon they will use to bring down their hated enemy. So what did Daniels say that is so damaging to the president?

Here’s What Stormy Daniels Said About Her Alleged Affair With Donald Trump

According to the former porn star, Trump met with her at his bungalow in Beverly Hills ten years ago. During this meeting, he allegedly made her watch “Shark Week” and allowed Daniels to spank him with a magazine in which he was featured. She also claims that Trump offered her a spot on his show “The Apprentice.” Then, Daniels claims that they had sex. But that’s not the worst of it.

After their encounter, Daniels claims that people linked to Trump attempted to prevent her from sharing her story. In one instance, she states that she was threatened in a parking lot on her way to the gym with her daughter. “I was in a parking lot, going to a fitness class with my infant daughter,” she said. “A guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.”

Then, the man allegedly threatened Daniels with physical harm. She claims that the man looked at her daughter and said: “It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.” Shortly before the 2016 election, Michael Cohen — Trump’s lawyer — gave her $130,000 to keep silent about her encounter with the president. She signed the agreement 11 days before the election.

Sounds pretty damning, doesn’t it? Well, perhaps not. While the left seems to think that Daniels’ story will damage the Trump administration, reality says something different.

Stormy Daniels’ Interview Will Not Hurt Trump

Let’s be clear, Daniels’ story is full of allegations; many of which have not been substantiated. There is no evidence that Trump had anyone threaten the former porn star with physical harm. Moreover, Daniels has vacillated on her story a number of times. But what’s the REAL reason why this won’t hurt Trump?

Because there is nothing shocking about her story.

For the sake of argument, let’s say that Trump did have a sexual encounter with Stormy Daniels. If this were the case, there is nothing here that would change America’s perception of the president. Why? Because Trump has been open about the fact that he has had numerous affairs throughout his life. He has repeatedly boasted about his sexual adventures.

Trump has never pretended to be anything other than what he is. We don’t have to like it. Indeed, many who voted for him would never approve of his behavior. However, it has nothing to do with his performance as president. It’s the same reason why the Access Hollywood tape didn’t prevent him from winning the election. Now, if this were Mitt Romney, we might be having a different conversation.

Some may try to compare Trump to Bill Clinton and imply that this “scandal” could lead to impeachment. However, the alleged encounter with Stormy Daniels occurred ten years ago — long before Trump became president. Clinton performed his misdeeds while he was still in office — and lied about it under oath. It is not likely that Trump will ever have to testify about his relationship with Daniels under oath since there is nothing about this story that is relevant to his presidency. In short, there is no chance that this story will have a significant impact on the president.

Unfortunately for the American public, the left’s fixation on Stormy Daniels means they will bombard us with coverage on her story. It almost makes one wish that we could go back to the good old days of the Russia collusion farce.
