After choosing to back challenger Luther Strange for the Alabama Senate race, President Trump has been somewhat quiet in his support for the eventual victor, Roy Moore. Until now. In what seems to be a flood of acceptance for the put-upon judge, even Mitch McConnell has tacitly accepted the likelihood of his joining the Senate.
With President Trump’s support behind him, the Alabaman Trump supporters will be more confident in giving their vote to the candidate rather than staying home on Election Day.
To date, Doug Jones’ strategy has been to encourage people to not be complicit in electing Moore; with this new level of support, it is a tactic that will now not be enough.
Trump Comes Out Swinging
President Trump rarely does things by half, and his endorsement of Moore was no exception. In a weekend in which the president was hugely active on Twitter, he posted not only the death knell of Democrat hopes but a condemnation of where the DNC is going wrong:
“Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!”
He went further calling out Nancy Pelosi and Chick Schumer personally whilst “bigging up” his achievements to date. He Tweeted:
“Putting Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Puppet Jones into office in Alabama would hurt our great Republican Agenda of low on taxes, tough on crime, strong on military and borders…& so much more. Look at your 401-k’s since Election. Highest Stock Market EVER! Jobs are roaring back!”
And the Response
Unsurprisingly, the leftist media went into immediate fake paroxysm at the thought that a sitting President would support someone who has such a long string of sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him. But the reality is that since the initial news broke, the press has been less and less interested in the case.
Could it be that Gloria Allred (the lawyer for one accuser) has refused the offer of having the “incriminating handwriting sample” tested independently? Or could it be that literally no evidence has been given to support the claims?
Roy Moore responded to the news of such high-level support by sending out his own Tweet:
“The America First agenda will #MAGA, Can’t wait to help him #DrainTheSwamp.”
And it truly would be a match made in heaven. Both men are firmly behind the Make America Great Again platform and all for the Draining of the D.C. Swamp. But crucially, as a strong supporter in the Senate, Moore could be the man to tip the balance away from the RINOs.
