President Trump has sternly warned the government of Honduras that he will cut off aid to the Central American nation if it does not move to halt the latest migrant caravan rolling towards the United States.
Trump minced no words in his Oct. 16 tweet:
The United States has strongly informed the President of Honduras that if the large Caravan of people heading to the U.S. is not stopped and brought back to Honduras, no more money or aid will be given to Honduras, effective immediately!

Target: America
Some 3,000 people are part of the latest caravan, dubbed the “March of the Migrant” by organizers. Vice President Mike Pence called on the governments of Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala to urge their citizens to not take part in the movement.
“Tell your people: Don’t put your families at risk by taking the dangerous journey north to attempt to enter the United States illegally,” Pence said.
Guatemala, for its part, took action against the caravan by ordering one of its chief organizers deported back to Honduras. Government officials announced that ex-Honduran leftist legislator Bartolo Fuentes was to be taken to a migrant shelter and deported.
Given the fact that a socialist Honduran politician has organized these “marching migrants,” aren’t we allowed to ask just how spontaneous an event this whole affair really is?
Rogue Messenger
One has to further wonder then just why the federally funded Voice of America, in opposition to its own government, is framing the march on our national border as an inevitable action undertaken by tear-stained wretches with no other choice in the matter. An over-the-top weepy Oct. 15 article posted on the official VOA website is filled with imagery that could not be more blatant in its bias toward the caravan marchers.
“Some are walking. Some are in vehicles. But they all seem to have a common goal — they want a better life. Many of them want to seek that life in the United States,” the purple prose reads.
Sounds like a bad karaoke version of a Neil Diamond song.
“March organizer Bartolo Fuentes told Reuters that participants are fleeing poverty and violence back home,” VOA reports without noting Fuentes’ socialist background at all.
Duly reporting Trump’s threat to cut off aid to Honduras, VOA mournfully chirps, “[b]ut that means little to people who are poor already and want better for themselves and their children.”
This is a government-funded agency charged with articulating America’s message to an international audience, and it’s undercutting its own president’s policy.
The article closes by quoting a 26-year-old man, Roberto Castro, who vows to reach America:
“‘It hurts,’ he told the Associated Press, between tears, ‘because one just wants an opportunity.'”
Oh, boo-hoo. This excessively saccharine brand of sad-sack, angelic victim profiling is standard boilerplate for our biased leftist media, of course, but why is taxpayer money being used to have it published by a government agency, in direct contradiction of stated U.S. policy on the issue?

Perhaps the VOA can wax poetic on the love-filled hearts of the overgrown orphans who made up the previous caravan from Honduras earlier this year. When they finally reached San Diego, Honduran flags were waving and middle fingers were flying as adult men, looking nothing like the innocent lambs portrayed in the left-leaning media, brazenly attempted to swarm onto our sovereign soil.
Your Dollars at Work
VOA has been accused of anti-Trump bias before. During the 2016 election it translated into Ukrainian a video in which unhinged Hollywood actor Robert De Niro called Trump a “dog” and other slurs, then posted the clip onto Facebook, the website BBG Watch reports. The site also notes that a VOA “journalist” obscenely lamented in a Facebook post that he would no longer be able to attack Trump online if he won the presidency.

So much for any pretensions toward objectivity.
U.S. taxpayers funded VOA to the tune of $224 million in fiscal year 2017. In return, we get vulgar employees declaring their maniacal hatred of the man who is now president and openly cheerleading for the invasion of our southern border. President Trump certainly has a lot on his plate, but he really needs to get around to draining this particularly soggy Swamp lily pad sooner rather than later.
