The Political Horse Race – April 9th

All the numbers that matter in politics this week.

by | Apr 9, 2019 | Articles, Columns, Politics

Every single week there are changes in how the American people see their political system. Whether President Trump’s approval ratings are going up or down, if House Democrats are more or less unpopular than Republicans, these views are flighty, oft-changing, and on occasion, difficult to believe.

Liberty Nation presents our round-up of all the key numbers that you, as the informed political news hound, need to know. The figures are taken from a variety of sources to provide the most up-to-date information.

The Candidates’ Market Report

This week is all about Joe Biden. Despite scandal after scandal, groping and sniffing, Biden’s figures haven’t really shifted. Both regular polling and gambling odds still have the former VP in with a chance at the White House. The only question remaining is whether the DNC will jettison him before crunch time arrives.

A meme war is taking place across the internet that has Creepy Joe trending from sea to shining sea in a reputation-killing avalanche of gags, photos, and videos that would have had any other candidate running scared straight to K Street … but not Uncle Joe. And here we find the Democrat Dilemma.

As scandals and ridicule mount, there is no realistic way that Biden can take the presidency from Trump; the DNC knows it, the MSM knows it, and the ket Dem players know it … but that inconvenient polling just won’t accept it.

Most recent polling gives Trump the edge over many Dem candidates, but not Biden. While we can safely assume that Massachusetts is not going to get on the Trump Train in 2020, the Massachusetts Democratic Presidential Primary match-ups have Biden taking the prize by an enormous 38 points. Will the DNC be brave enough to risk those numbers?

This Week’s Major Players

What the Gamblers Say

As with most things, if you follow the money, you can’t go too far wrong. This is a selection of the odds for key races and events.

Make sure to check back next week for all the numbers that count.
