The GOP Role in Mollie Tibbetts Murder

by | Aug 27, 2018 | Articles, Immigration

Some conservatives are irked at media reports that the illegal alien charged with murdering Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts worked for and was housed by farmers with Republican Party ties.

These conservatives are wrong to see this as just an attempt to deflect attention away from the Democrats’ disastrous all-out support for illegal immigration.

Fact is, cheap-labor-loving Republicans have as much blood on their hands as Democrats when it comes to illegal immigration and its devastating effects on American communities.

Killer Employee

Nicole Schlinger, a top Republican fundraiser, is the wife of Eric Lang, “the president of the family-owned dairy that has acknowledged providing employment and housing for the last four years to Cristhian Bahena Rivera, the man charged with murder in Tibbetts’ death,” the Associated Press reports.

While the mainstream media may very well be reporting this merely to take heat off of Democrats in an election season, conservatives should pounce on the news and express their fury with a Republican party still overwhelmingly in thrall to corporate elites who want open borders to maintain a steady flow of cheap labor into the United States.

Real Roadblock

Actor James Woods captured the mood conservatives should embrace on immigration with this posting on his popular Twitter account:

Despite President Trump being swept into office in stunning fashion largely because the American people demand a secure border and a real crackdown on illegal immigration, the Republican establishment as recently as June was still flogging its latest version of amnesty, er, “immigration reform.”

Showcasing once again their duplicitous nature, GOP leaders, led by House Speaker Paul Ryan, attempted to pressure fellow Republicans into supporting amnesty by raising the liberal talking point of families of illegal alien criminals being “separated” at the border.

“It’s not the reason to vote for this, but they definitely put it forward as a reason to vote for this,” Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said. “Hey, this solves your political problem as well,” Massie says GOP leaders were telling Republicans.

Corporate Puppets

Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies reports Republicans in Congress are clamoring to allow more low-skilled and high-skilled foreign workers into the U.S. at the behest of their corporate donors.

The House Appropriations Committee, working on the Department of Homeland Security funding bill for fiscal year 2019, approved two amendments to expand foreign work-visa programs. “The first determines that H-2A seasonal-farmworker visas no longer have to be seasonal,” Krikorian writes. “This was done to satisfy lobbyists for the dairy industry, which works year-round and wants to import cheap foreign labor through this unlimited visa program.”

The illegal alien charged with murdering Mollie Tibbetts was a worker on a dairy farm.

“The other foreign-worker amendment affects the H-2B visa, which is the non-agricultural equivalent of the H-2A, used mainly by landscapers and hotels and restaurants,” Krikorian continues. “The amendment was just the latest round in lobbyists’ relentless backroom push to exempt from the visa’s numerical cap all those workers who came in prior years.”

These are Republicans in Congress acting against the Trump agenda and the clearly articulated wishes of the American people.

Of course this is all done at the behest of the corporate donor class that pulls the strings attached to these political puppets. And those corporate entities are not above decrying the horrors of “family separation” of illegal aliens as a way to create a favorable political climate to increase their flow of cheap labor and exploitative “free trade.”

“The Business Roundtable, which represents the CEOs of Walmart, General Motors, Boeing, JPMorgan Chase, Mastercard and others, urged immediate end to the policy,” the Associated Press reported in June.

Notorious GOP power player the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was also not shy to weigh in. “Surely a nation as big, generous and compassionate as the United States can find a way to prevent separating children from their parents at the border. If we can’t agree on that, then we can’t agree on anything,” U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donohue said in a statement.

Surely these traitors to the American working class could not be more shameless.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa tweeted the following powerful message on August 24:

King is certainly correct about leftist culpability in these innocent victims’ deaths, and it is a point that cannot be emphasized enough.

But Mollie Tibbetts and so many others would also be alive if we didn’t have a Republican Party still too infested, almost two years into a Trump presidency, with the vile corruption that comes with taking the corporate elites’ dirty money.
