The Dignity of a Job and Why the Left Doesn’t Get It

by | Sep 15, 2018 | Articles, Politics, The Left

Whether the left wants to admit it or not, President Trump’s economy is roaring. There has been a fantastic economic upturn, and the unemployment rate is down to 3.9%. Former President Obama’s policies did little to bring employment opportunities to Americans. Instead, he supported high tax rates on businesses that choked owners and CEOs to cut jobs. The Democratic Party’s values and policies cause citizens to become unemployed, taking away a person’s dignity from having a job.

Leftist Steal

Progressive policies hurt businesses. Taxes are often much higher. There are usually more regulations under liberal leadership. The Democratic Party rarely puts much emphasis on the importance of having a job and focuses on what they can give someone for “free” instead. The left’s approach to running government at any level seems to have a more insidious plan, and that is to create a system that is more reliant on government for sustenance than self.

Leftists place little emphasis on work. Could there be an underlying reason? Perhaps. Since the left’s policies provide little hope for a future of prosperity and growth, it seems that progressive ideology is intended to steal one’s self-worth. If the left-wing can break a person down financially, chances are that individual will come to the government asking for assistance.

First, the jobless person will need unemployment benefits. Notice that. Unemployment benefits. Where is the dignity in benefiting from by receiving money from the government and not earning it? After a short time, that same person may need food stamps, a phone, and then a place to live – all of which is provided by some form of government. Whether the individual realizes it or not, their virtue has vanished.

The left creates votes by immorally picking on minorities, making them feel like victims and creating high unemployment rates. Meanwhile, Trump’s policies are creating opportunities for more African-American owned businesses.

In reality, the right tries to make opportunities for everyone. Conservatism places importance on self-reliance, work being just one aspect of that. Being able to provide for one’s self is a value from the founding of unsettled land that eventually became colonies. Ultimately, colonists felt the need to be free from the Crown of Britain, and after the Revolutionary War, America was born.

There is a sense of accomplishment in being able to provide for yourself and family financially. Despite what the left wants you to believe, dignity is not a matter of identity politics. Anybody, man or woman, white or “of color,” should feel the satisfaction of being able to provide for their family in any way.

The left does not respect those who vote for them. Ultimately, progressive ideology breaks down individuals, turning them into a group of sheep who blindly follow the Democratic Party. Many high profile progressives such as Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Nancy Pelosi never had real jobs. They lived off of the government, and never decided to step out into the working world to provide.

Jobs Work

Matt Bevin is the 62nd governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and a staunch conservative. He understands the value of hard work and a job. He grew up on a farm as one of nine children where government assistance was needed. However, Bevin learned the importance of working. Now, he has reformed the state’s Medicaid system so that it requires some form of work to qualify.

The left opposes Bevin’s law, but it restores self-worth and pride to his citizens. Bevin is showing more compassion for people by helping, but also not dragging them into worthlessness. However, United States District of Columbia District Court Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee, has blocked the law.

The fewer jobs that exist, the more Democrats see potential voters. Progressivism takes advantage of groups through unemployment while conservatism gives an opportunity to individuals through jobs.

And a Job equals dignity.
