The clock is ticking on certifying the 2020 presidential election results, and it appears that only one question remains. Can the Trump campaign’s legal team provide concrete evidence that ballot fraud was committed on a scale large enough to swing the electoral vote count in the president’s favor? According to two principal players in Trump’s corner, Rudy Giuliani and attorney Sidney Powell, it can and will produce that evidence. At the center of the pair’s claim are two election-related companies: Dominion and Smartmatic.
On November 15, both Giuliani and Powell appeared on Sunday Morning Futures, a Fox News show hosted by Maria Bartiromo. The former New York City mayor told Bartiromo that the Trump campaign’s attorneys had “identified 632,000 illegal votes” in Pennsylvania. Giuliani also claimed the campaign had multiple witnesses to electoral fraud, including several people who observed the delivery of thousands of ballots to a counting location in Michigan in the dead of night. Allegedly, these ballots bore only votes for Joe Biden – no other down-ballot candidates had been selected, which, while not necessarily unheard of, is highly unusual, especially in such large numbers.
Millions of Votes In Question
Giuliani also suggested that the use of Dominion and Smartmatic election technologies is something that “has to be investigated as a national security matter.” Powell was more specific in her preview of what the Trump team had in store:
“We’re fixing to overturn the election results in multiple states and President Trump won by not just hundreds of thousands of votes but by millions of votes that were shifted by this software that was designed expressly for that purpose.”
Powell claims “hundreds of thousands” of Americans have come forward with their own accounts of electoral fraud. The attorney went on to explain how this election software could be used – even remotely, via the internet – to manipulate the tabulation of ballots in virtually any way the user desired. Powell even stated that the software’s user manual described how “votes can be wiped away.”
The Fox News host questioned whether the president’s attorneys would be able to produce the evidence they needed in time to stop the election from being certified. Powell’s response was definitive: “First of all, I never say anything I can’t prove. Secondly, the evidence is coming in so fast I can’t even process it all.”
Dominion and Smartmatic
What, exactly, are Dominion and Smartmatic? Dominion is a Canadian company – Dominion Voting Systems – that produces voting machines, ballot tabulation machines, and related software. More than 30 states, including all those in which ballot counts have been disputed, use Dominion’s equipment.
Smartmatic, established in Florida, is a multinational company that, according to its website, is “the global leader in secure, accessible, transparent election technology & support services.”
Although such things do not constitute proof of wrongdoing or nefarious intent, it is worth noting that Smartmatic makes the following claim on its website: “We believe in equality and justice for all.” On its face, this would seem like an innocuous statement – and one that is hard to fault. However, it is also, essentially, one of the rallying cries of the political left. Of more concern is the fact that the chairman of Smartmatic’s board of directors is former U.S. Coast Guard Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger, a member of Joe Biden’s transition team (for the Department of Homeland Security).
The Clock is Ticking – Or Is It?
All eyes are on the looming deadlines for the states to certify their results. Is this a false horizon, though? Nothing is set in stone if the situation is serious enough to warrant delay. After all, most states postponed their primary election days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the American people had months ago been warned by numerous pundits and political strategists that the final results of this election might not be known until many weeks after election day.
Team Trump is now under pressure to produce the goods. If it cannot, then Joe Biden will become president-elect when the Electoral College votes. If Trump’s attorneys are as good as their word, though, the most devastating political earthquake since 1861 is about to rock America.
