The disgusting hypocrisy of the left and their handmaidens in the establishment media has never been more on display than during the recent sanctimonious beatdown on Sean Hannity for failing to disclose that he is a “client” of Donald Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen.
Members of the elite media have been lining up around the block to lecture the American people on how shameful it is that Hannity would dare to report on Michael Cohen during his primetime show on Fox News without announcing his personal relationship with Cohen. And as they proudly proclaim their own journalistic integrity, their lack of self-awareness is downright stunning.
Of course, Hannity has never called himself a journalist, and has openly and continuously hoisted the flag for the President – there has never been a doubt about his support for Trump. And he has denied ever hiring or having any sort of attorney-client relationship with his friend Cohen. But never mind that. Countless members of the elite media have made self-righteous proclamations condemning the Fox News host – without disclosing their own flagrant conflicts of interest.
So on his Tuesday radio show, Rush Limbaugh did it for them. You can read on, or listen here:
The self-dealing revolving door among the swamp media and the leftist establishment is highlighted by, but hardly limited to, a trio of conflicts that directly affect the news presented by the major broadcast and cable networks:
How many viewers know that the host of ABC’s signature Sunday show This Week (and James Comey interviewer), George Stephanopoulos, was a top adviser to President Bill Clinton and six-figure donor to the Clinton Foundation? How many know that CBS News President David Rhodes is the brother of Ben Rhodes, a high-ranking adviser to President Barack Obama? What about the fact that the 15 year-old-son of Jeff Zucker, President of CNN, was hired by left-wing Senator Cory Booker as a “millennial adviser” to Booker’s internet startup company and granted substantial stock options (before the conflict was so obvious the son was forced to resign in 2013)?
The list goes on and on. But as chronicled by Rush, each of the following “journalists” went on national TV this week to express outrage about Hannity:
Jake Tapper, a virulently anti-Trump anchor on CNN, was a spokesman for the group Handgun Control – a fact not disclosed as Tapper hosted the recent nationally televised anti-gun town hall following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. He was also Campaign Press Secretary for Democrat Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, now the mother-in-law of Chelsea Clinton. Tapper’s wife was a regional Field Manager for Planned Parenthood.
CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin worked for Iran-Contra Special Counsel Lawrence Walsh, appointed to investigate the Reagan administration, and was a member of the infamous Journo-list, a private forum for discussing and strategizing about politics and the news media with 400 left-leaning journalists, academics, and others. It was eventually shuttered when its existence became public. Toobin had an extramarital affair and fathered a child with the daughter of ABC News commentator Jeff Greenfield.
The wife of Chuck Todd, host of NBC’s Meet the Press, was a highly paid adviser to the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign.
Matthew Miller, writer for the New York Times and The Atlantic, was a spokesman for Obama Attorney General Eric Holder, former Communications for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and worked for Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and the John Kerry presidential campaign.
MSNBC personality Ari Melber worked for the Kerry presidential campaign and leftist Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA).
Jackie Kucinich, Washington Bureau Chief for The Daily Beast, is the daughter of a far-left Democrat, former Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
John Harwood, Trump hater extraordinaire on CNBC, established his liberal bona fides early in life by appearing in an ad for the Robert F. Kennedy presidential campaign as an 11-year-old.
Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, is the daughter of former Jimmy Carter National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski.
Ron Brownstein, Writer for The Atlantic and Senior Political Analyst at CNN, worked for uber-leftist Ralph Nader.
These people call themselves journalists, and attack Sean Hannity with no sense of irony.
All of this is not to say we weren’t already aware of the pervasive left-wing bias in the swamp media. But the hypocrisy – and utter lack of self-awareness – inherent in their self-righteous crusade to take down Hannity is nevertheless breathtaking.
The evidence of conflict of interest is plentiful and can be seen in the Washington-style revolving door. In all, more than 30 “journalists” left their jobs to work for the Obama administration, according to the Media Research Center. And those are just the ones not trying to hide or discount their manifest bias.
It was just this type of behavior that led the American people to elect an outsider who could ride into the White House and expose the media – and the entire swampocracy – for what they really are. But when the media advances to the point of attacking an innocent man for that which actually defines themselves, they have crossed yet another bright line in the destruction of their own credibility.
