Former President Obama, as his power and prestige dwindle without remorse, is essentially attempting to undercut Trump’s successes in the sneakiest way possible; he is sending the JV squad to act as influencers on the international peacekeeping stage. Steven Simon and Jonathan Stevenson, former directors of Obama’s National Security Council (NSC), and seemingly not so busy in their new jobs, are running plays for the opposing team; when they should have left the campus after graduation.
We all know of people that can’t let go of the past. Obama is their elfin overlord.
Simon and Stevenson, both accomplished in Middle Eastern diplomacy, are aghast that Trump withdrew America from the tenuous Iran nuclear deal that was at best, a stop-gap measure to win Obama Brownie points in something other than his hoops ability.
For the few who know only of the media’s assessment, Liberty Nation’s Graham Noble describes the Iran deal succinctly, and in perspective:
“The real weaknesses in the agreement were the inability to fully verify Iran’s compliance and the so-called ‘sunset clauses.’ These clauses ensured, for Iran, the lifting of certain constraints after a period of some years. In reality, then, the JCPOA was always only temporary. To use a much over-used analogy, it was a way for former President Barack Obama and his European co-signers to kick the can down the road.”
Ahh, Trumplomacy is causing calmer heads to explode off shoulders in massive numbers.
Dribble, Dribble
Stevenson and Simon recently penned an op-ed piece calling for European nations to punish President Trump for undoing yet another Obama-era stop-gap measure. Yes, these intelligent men fully believe that Trump whacked the Iran deal out of spite—not because it was flawed policy that placed America in harm’s way.
But Britain, China, France, Russia, Germany and the EU have not necessarily dissed Trump’s move; rather, they seem to be taking the pulse of Iran in its wake.
Boris Johnson, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Great Britain, has diplomatically credited the Obama partnered deal as one that may have prevented Iran’s expansion into nuclear warhead creation, stockpiling, and usage. He also credited Trump:

“In a statement on Jan. 12, President Trump rightly identified Iran’s dangerous actions as a central cause of instability across the Middle East. Britain shares his concerns about Iran’s support for terrorist groups, its behavior in cyberspace and its long-range missile program. We also, of course, agree that Iran must never get a nuclear weapon; indeed Tehran’s obligation not to “seek, develop or acquire” such an arsenal appears (without any time limit) at the top of the deal’s preamble.”
Johnson is slated to meet with the Trump administration soon to discuss further and he has emphatically stated he would prefer to enact stricter adherences when dealing with the tumultuous times that Iran and the Middle East nations seem to thrive upon. In other words, Iran had better play by the rules that Western nations have contrived lest they see the might of the like-minded in international security.
And that’s all good and well, except that the United States will always be on the front lines protecting the rest of the world, and Trump is being Trump; putting the needs of Americans above all else.
Deep State Machinations
This President will not kowtow to the machinations of Obama nor any of his former administration. If they have ideas, perhaps they could put money where the wide-open mouth is and offer their expert opinion in a fashion to move the process along. Instead, they go back to campus, wearing their hard-earned letterman’s jacket, and attempt to stay relevant in a world that is moving much too fast for their abilities.
Simon and Stevenson have great minds and qualities that could be helpful in our times, but they have to learn to be a team player. Their guy is gone; their loyalty should be to this nation. Period. There is no wiggle room, nor late buzzer plays.
Trump will not sit idly by when the safety of his country, his constituents, are concerned. The fact that Obama’s policies, fraught with holes and fatal flaws, are being rescinded in fast order, heck, that’s just a bonus.
