Well, that didn’t take long. Now that the NFL made its decision regarding players who kneel for the national anthem, protesters decided to demonstrate outside of the league’s Manhattan headquarters.
The protests featured the normal race baiting and accusations of racism. Unfortunately for them, the NFL’s decision seems to be final.
NFL Announces Fines against Players Who Kneel
The NFL recently announced its new policy to address players who kneel in protest during the national anthem. The organization stated that it will fine any team whose players refused to stand while the Star Spangled Banner is being played before each game.
The issue sparked a national debate back in 2016 when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the anthem. Other players soon followed suit. The furor died down for a brief moment until President Trump expressed a harshly worded criticism of kneeling players at a speech in 2017.
The NFL’s ratings and profits began sinking in large part due to football fans refusing to attend games because of the protests. There can be little doubt that the league is attempting to win back these irritated customers.
Left-Wing Organizations Protest NFL Decision
In response to the NFL’s decision, dozens of activists gathered to assert that football players had the “right to kneel.” The National Action Network (NAN), a civil rights organization founded by Reverend Al Sharpton, led the protest in front of the NFL’s headquarters. NAN’s Northeast Regional Director Kirsten John Foy criticized President Trump and football team owners for prohibiting players from protesting social ills in the way they see fit. “Our demand is that the NFL reverse that immoral and unconstitutional decision,” she said.
The Women’s March and the NAACP were also present at the demonstration. Tamika Mallory — one of the leaders of the women’s march indicated that she had no desire to speak with the NFL about their decision. “I’m not here to talk to the NFL. They have already drawn a line in the sand, and they have doubled-down on us,” she said. Mallory also stated that the league is “complicit in the oppression of black and brown people in this moment.”
Pretty harsh, right? But it gets better. Mallory also thought it necessary to bring slavery into the conversation. “They own these young men in their minds,” she yelled. “The slave owners have said that if the slaves get out of line, we will show them. The question is: What will the rest of us do about them putting the slaves in line?”
Wow. No doubt you had no idea that slavery still existed in the United States and now they make millions of dollars to play a game!
The Left Lost This Battle

It is a common belief that the far left has won the culture war. However, this belief isn’t accurate — the culture war is never-ending, and they are losing ground. The question is whether or not those on the left still have the upper hand. In many ways, they do — however, conservatives have won the debate over NFL protests. This shows that the left does not have as tight of a stranglehold on the culture as many of us have believed.
The truth is that there is no reason why the far left should have the upper hand in this conflict. Time and time again, they have shown that they are out of touch with the average Americans. Their tried and true tactics are no longer so tried and true. You can only get by with false accusations of bigotry and a false message of victimhood for so long. It appears that the far left’s favorite weapons have lost much of their efficacy — and it’s about time.
