The Millennial View: Travel Ban Not Racist

Loading the Elevenlabs Text to Speech AudioNative Player...

The demonstrations and unrest surrounding President Trump’s proposed immigration ban regarding seven countries reached a high this past week, with violent protests breaking out across the U.S. And with a Washington State federal judge putting the brakes on the President’s executive order, the hypocrisy of the far-left continues unabated.

Since 2011, over 86,000 civilians casualties have resulted from Syria’s civil war. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many liberals gave no mention of the issue until they were able to turn it political under the current Trump administration. Are liberals truly as accepting and loving as they claim, or do they simply put on the show in order to gain political points and attention?

It must be asked: Where were the mass protests, twenty-four hour media attention, and concern for Syrian refugees in the past five years?

To call the Trump administration “fascist” and “racist,” as protesters have been claiming, is to completely miss the point of why the proposed immigration ban was initiated by the President.  The far left falsely propagates that the immigration ban is actually a “Muslim ban.” While these so-called progressives hold up their catchy signs stating “No Ban No Wall, Liberty and Justice for All,” their ignorance on the issue outweighs their rhyming skills.

First off, Islam is not a race. In fact, to call a supposed ban against Muslims “racist” is an insult to those experiencing true racism. Religion is a choice, whereas race is not. But then, when does the far left correctly identify the definition of a choice?

Secondly, there is real fear among Americans on the threat of terror. The seven countries listed in Trump’s immigration ban are some of the most highly ravaged by the threat of terrorism.

As we have seen from terror attacks around the globe, it is vital that we keep ISIL-inspired individuals from entering the country. This will serve to protect both US citizens and those seeking refuge, as we want the US to be a safe home for everyone, including those who wish to come here legally and contribute positively to American society.

American citizens are not against individuals from Muslim majority nations entering the US because they are Muslim. Most Syrian Muslims are likely good people desiring safety. However, many Americans are in favor of the ban in order to protect their families and friends from the threat of terrorism. Allowing refugees from terror-ravaged nations into the US without proper screening will certainly put US security at risk, as evidenced by the many attacks carried out by ISIL last year.

Although President Trump’s immigration ban by itself will not completely solve the issue of terrorism, it is a step to increased safety. The threat of radical Islamic terrorism is simply a reality that the far-left refuses to acknowledge.

Now, all we need is for the courts to allow the President to do his duty and fulfill his promise to defend American citizens and our way of life.
