Midterm Elections Have Conservative Voters Turning Up the Heat

How does the Un-Silent majority feel about Congress?

Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest-running and most popular weekly column. Capturing the truth each week from heartlanders in flyover states, LN gives voice to the hard-working Americans otherwise ignored by the coastal elites.

Heartlanders are prepping for a full-frontal assault on Republicans after the midterm elections if they don’t investigate Hunter Biden. At the same time, one congressional leader is being called out for enabling escalating inflation. And as prices for pumpkins balloon to $5.68 for the average-sized gourd, flyover folks just pluck one out of the garden for carving and baking pies. Common sense and Autumn are welcome in Middle America, as is the departure of Trevor Noah from The Daily Show – whatever that is.

Why, I Oughta…

Dr. Sebastian Gorka penned an opinion piece for Breitbart News praising the continued efforts of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to beat the drum about the Hunter Biden laptop, possible corruption, and allegations the president was involved in all of the aforementioned. And while any other conservative member of Congress did not so much inspire Gorka, he hinted that RINOs must go or be drummed out of office.

“Matt Gaetz is a troublemaker. He is a patriot. He is totally America First. And he understands the following:

After the midterm elections, there will be an expectation that the Republican Party get serious. Not business as usual. Not the ‘Let’s treat the Democrats as a normal party’ attitude, but let’s get to the bottom of the corruption that is rife across this nation, and especially in the White House.”

Them there are fighting words this close to midterms and some Republicans, called out by name, are getting hammered more routinely by folks in the Heartland. Much like Paul Hyatt in Hitchcock, TX: “As long as McConnell and Cornyn are in charge of the Senate, it will never happen. RINOs must be sat down and thrown out.”

And then there was Homer Townsley in Van Buren, MO, who was a tad skeptical of Gorka’s vision: “That’s right! If Republicans go along as business as usual after taking back the House, I will be done voting in elections and lose all hope this country will ever get straightened out. This is the feeling of many average Americans. Get aggressive, take action, investigate and imprison these corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, or else!”

But there is always a doubting Thomas, or in this case, Sam. Sam Edwards, that is, in Tennessee, who agreed but held out on full-blown optimism: “I’ll believe it when I see it, but gotta get rid of McConnell first, and McCarthy had better do more than talk.”

Midterms Are Frosty for McConnell Too

Earlier in the week, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) pondered aloud whether the midterms would be won or lost by three key issues: “inflation, crime, and open borders.” Few dispute his assessment. However, some are angry about the part he played in skyrocketing inflation, and flyover folks are savvy enough to ask, why didn’t McConnell and establishment Republicans block Biden from signing massive spending packages?

And that’s when you find out how the un-silent majority really feels about the current makeup of the US Congress. As is the norm, patriots in Texas are some of the first to voice their opinions. And Barbara Hubble in Belton, did not disappoint: “RINO! He has Chinese interests and can’t afford to rattle his Chinese friends!” And most every commenter began with “RINO!” Well, until a gentler Midwesterner, Ron Stone Jr. in Cincinnati, stated, “McConnell needs to retire – he has been part of the problem for a long time.”

But Texas trumped the discussion, after all, as Luella N’Darwin Hartman called McConnell out as only a gal in Amarillo can do:  “Well, they don’t call him Moscow Mitch for nothing. Don’t take this the wrong way, people, but he swings both ways.”

The Frost is On the Pumpkin

As hurricane Ian dominates the news cycle, leave it to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, to stick her high heels in her mouth and make a questionable remark to get some camera whirring aimed in her direction. On Friday, Madam Pelosi suggested that farmers in Florida needed illegal aliens “to pick the crops” as there was a shortage of US workers – while simultaneously calling for “comprehensive immigration reform.” It was a head-scratcher, and one person in Idaho commented, “what is she even trying to tell us?”
