President Joe Biden was inaugurated on Jan. 20 before thousands of National Guard troops, a small group of dignitaries, and a throng of media activists whose pupils turned to hearts when he took the stage to give his speech. Members of media activist organizations like CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times gazed longingly at the new president and their stone hearts slowly turned to jelly as they witnessed the fruits of their arduous labor manifest at long last.
It was as if their fantasies leaked out of their minds and took shape in the real world. If one were able to see these supposed journalists reporting on the ceremony, their faces would say it all: “By golly, we actually pulled it off! Now what?” It’s a pertinent question, one that the activist media will answer as they move from their antagonistic approach toward Trump’s White House to a more accommodating role for Biden.
Media Activists Begin the Fawning
John Harwood, White House correspondent for CNN, posted a tweet comparing Trump to Biden, celebrating that the latter would now occupy the Oval Office.
Trump—>Biden
lies—>truth
ignorance—>knowledge
amorality—>decency
cruelty—> empathy
corruption—>public service— John Harwood (@JohnJHarwood) January 20, 2021
The Associated Press posted a tweet lauding the inauguration and portrayed it as a symbol of hope emerging from a horrible chapter in American history, which was ostensibly caused by Trump. “President Biden takes the helm of a deeply divided nation and inherits a confluence of crises. But there were comforting signs of tradition in the hallowed American rite that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol,” wrote the newswire.
HuffPost was giddy as can be about Biden’s dog and the return of a canine presence to the White House. “A Joe Biden presidency means his two German shepherds, Major and Champ, will be First Pets,” it tweeted.
Media Activists Prepare for Perpetual Plaudits
Members of the activist media have already indicated that they intend to take a softer approach to reporting on the White House now that they have a friendly face in office. Their gushing over Biden during the inauguration is only a sneak peek of what the American people have coming.
When Biden makes a faulty decision, the nation can expect its vaunted Fourth Estate to dutifully run interference for him like offensive linemen defending their quarterback. Media activists will serve as enthusiastic journalistic assassins, ready to rhetorically eviscerate opponents of the Biden administration who dare to criticize their beloved leader.
Republicans will no doubt be working overtime to expose any wrongdoing that occurs under President Biden if they wish to win victories during the 2022 midterms and beyond. Amid widespread attempts to censor right-leaning thought on the internet, this might be more of a challenge than it was under Obama’s presidency. Still, the left has not quite succeeded in eliminating opposing positions from online platforms. Either way, the next two years will be a decisive battle over the future of the nation.
