It looks like President Donald Trump may have to pick a new favorite fast food restaurant.  On the morning of March 16^th, McDonald’s Twitter account served up a piping hot taunt directed at the president.

The tweet read:

“@realDonaldTrump You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President, and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands.”

The tweet remained active for about twenty minutes until it was deleted.  The chain later posted another tweet saying that Twitter had notified them that their account had been compromised.  It is unclear whether the tweet was sent by a rogue employee, an outside entity, or by McDonald’s itself.

Just when you thought the country couldn’t become more politicized, McDonald’s has become yet another company people on the left are using to make their statements.   The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro sums this up nicely:

All of this demonstrates just how politicized the country has become. Why in the world are fast food chains now taking political positions – and why, as in the case of Chick-Fil-A, does the left insist on forcing them into political boxes? This makes for a rather unpleasant social environment in which everyone is expected to virtue signal each them they enter a Drive-Thru.

Earlier this year, the left was encouraging boycotts on any business that carries products that carry the  Trump name.  The most prominent target is Ivanka Trump’s company.  The left has pressured department stores to stop selling her clothing line.  Some of these firms have given in to the pressure and stopped selling these products.  Unfortunately for the left, this tactic is not working.  Ivanka’s brand has increased sales 346% in the past month!  It turns out leftist boycotts might be good for business in some cases.

The left’s attempt to push corporations into the political sphere is another ill-fated attempt at furthering their narrative.  When people engage with companies, they are not interested in politics; they are interested in the products and services they wish to purchase.  If the left wants to be taken seriously, they must stop resorting to these types of tactics.
