Welcome to the next installment of “Lunacy on the Left” where Liberty Nation highlights the published comments and arguments made from the left-wing point of view on the issues of the day. Each week, we showcase the opinions of the leftist establishment media outlets, Democratic politicians, and other prominent figures on the left. In short, we’re going to wade through the morass of leftist lunacy, so you don’t have to.
This week was chock-full of silliness on the left. We saw Senator Cory Booker provide us with more evidence that he is losing his ever-loving mind. The left, still desperate to prevent Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court, attempted to target his wife. The media is pushing a tape made by President Trump’s former lawyer, and the left goes wild over a conservative satirical video mocking their precious new starlet, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Cory Booker Descends Further Into Insanity
Senator Cory Booker doesn’t like Judge Brett Kavanaugh. It may even be fair to say that he hates the Supreme Court nominee. In a news conference, the Democratic lawmaker appeared beside religious leaders and gave his best impression of Bishop T.D. Jakes in an unhinged rant urging Congress not to confirm Kavanaugh, because he may be evil. He attempted to use the Bible to support his argument.
“It doesn’t say that I sit in the valley of the shadow of death,” he declared. “It doesn’t say I’m sitting on the sidelines in the valley of the shadow of death. It says I am walking through the valley of the shadow of death.”
The senator-turned-preacher went on to imply that those who supported Kavanaugh’s appointment are “complicit in the evil.” Booker did not specify what evil Kavanaugh had wrought. Perhaps it was the fact that he serves food to the homeless? But Booker didn’t stop there.
A few days after his raging sermon, the lawmaker gave a speech in front of the National Conference on Ending Homelessness. During his talk, he urged the attendees to personally confront members of Congress. “Please don’t just come here today and then go home,” he said. “Go to the Hill today. Get up and, please, get up in the face of some congresspeople.”
Apparently, Booker seems to believe that getting in people’s faces is more effective than having a conversation about the issue of homelessness.
Targeting Brett Kavanaugh’s Wife
Speaking of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, the left – desperate to find a way to block his nomination – have decided to try a different strategy. Instead of simply targeting the Supreme Court nominee, they are taking a classier route: Going after his wife.
The NTK Network recently reported that The New York Times and the Associated Press filed requests under the Maryland Public Information Act to obtain emails regarding Mrs. Kavanaugh, who served as the town manager for The Village of Chevy Chase. But they weren’t just after any emails.
These left-leaning media outlets were searching for any emails that included specific words such as “gay,” “federalist,” “abortion,” and “liberal.” They also wanted emails that contained the names of specific individuals. The media is lucky that Mrs. Kavanaugh did not work for a city in California as they now have laws against grasping at straws.
Leftists Gin Up Faux Outrage Against Satirical Video
Satire has always been a mainstay in discussions of news and politics. However, many on the left got their feelings hurt when conservative commentator Allie Stuckey put out a satirical video mocking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Irate leftists took to Twitter and Facebook to voice their outrage at the video, claiming that it was fake news designed to deceive people into believing the video was real. They tried desperately to get the video removed from Facebook — going so far as to rally a number of sad leftists to report the clip to the social media company.
Buzzfeed slammed the video for not explicitly stating that it is satire. Of course, they didn’t have much to say about The Onion. The Verge — another left-leaning news site — also criticized the video. Ocasio-Cortez also took issue with the satire. “Republicans are so scared of me that they’re faking videos and presenting them as real on Facebook because they can’t deal with reality anymore.”
When none of these tactics worked, the left brought out the big guns: The Washington Post. The Post published a piece by Eli Rosenberg repeating the lie that Stuckey’s video was fake news. Unfortunately for the left, none of their attacks worked. Facebook — who isn’t known for backing conservatives — did not take the video down.
Establishment Media Hypes Up Cohen Tape
When the secret recording of a phone call between President Trump and Michael Cohen was released to the media, the left thought for sure that they had their smoking gun. However, they were quickly disappointed.
Trump and Cohen were discussing a possible payment that was designed to suppress a story about the president sleeping with a Playboy model. Unfortunately, the contents of the conversation didn’t reveal anything that could damage the president, who has never claimed to be a choir boy. Not only that, the payment never happened, so there was no potential campaign finance violation.
Will They Ever Stop?
Many have pointed out that most of the left’s attacks on conservatives have been about as effective as shooting Superman with a water gun. One of the reasons why they keep failing is because most of their attacks are dishonest and over-the-top. However, they haven’t yet learned their lesson, and it doesn’t appear that they ever will.
