LN Web Gems 2.28.17: The New York Times Does Comedy

Our spunky LN Writers offer up funny, outrageous and crazy tidbits from around the Web.  So many Gems today, so little time…

At the top of the pile today is Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the Wicked Witch of the West, who tried to claim that even if Hillary Clinton had won the election, Ms. Pelosi would have requested an investigation into Russian political interference. Twitter predictably erupted, as the BS meter pegged at “Overwhelming.”

Perhaps even more awkward are Rep. Pelosi’s own words during the campaign:

That’s awkward.

We move on to the New York Times, which stopped being credible long ago.  As Daily Wire reports, the NYT’s Executive Editor Dean Bacquet didn’t get the memo.  Mr. Bacquet appeared on the CNN program “Reliable Sources” — a joke in itself — to pontificate about President Donald Trump’s criticism of the Times and other media outlets. According to Mr. Bacquet, the Times is not only unbiased but it’s a critical part of the infrastructure, on the same level as the Supreme Court of the United States. If you just blinked reading that, don’t worry — we did too. What would America do without such hard-hitting NYT pieces as the one about former President Barack Obama’s daughters and their household chores?

Yesterday we mentioned Rachel Dolezal, and today we present Christine Michel Carter, a black marketing expert and writer at Huffington Post. Daily Caller reports that Ms. Carter, in honor of Black History Month, got a DNA analysis from 23andMe — and found out she was actually 31% white.  Naturally, Ms. Carter wrote that she felt “disorient and shame” upon learning of her true heritage, because being white is evil according to many on the left. Never mind that scientific data shows that her experience is actually pretty normal in the black community, according to Science Magazine.  Ms. Carter is scandalized to think that she has not just a little white ancestry, but is a whole third white.  Yes, it’s gotten that ridiculous.

Finally, today’s Web Gems wouldn’t be complete without an Oscar mention, and we have two.  In an unbelievable feat of incompetence, the Academy paid their respects to a four-time nominee who had passed away — and used a photo of her friend, who is very much alive. If that wasn’t enough, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty were given the wrong card, and announced the wrong movie as Best Picture Winner.  After some “mass confusion,” as EOnline! reports, the correct winning film was announced.

Somewhere, Steve Harvey is pumping his fist in vindication.

Tune in tomorrow for more gems from the web!
