Donald Trump Outlines ‘Operation Aurora’ to Stop Illegal Immigrants

Former President Donald Trump detailed a new plan targeting illegal immigrants with gang ties. The Republican presidential candidate told an audience at a campaign stop in Aurora, Colorado, that he would tap the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and “send elite squads of ICE, Border Patrol, and federal law enforcement officers to hunt down, arrest and deport … every illegal migrant criminal network operating on American soil.” Trump called it “Operation Aurora.”

Make Colorado Safe Again: “What are they doing to Colorado? They’re ruining your state. Kamala has imported an army of illegal alien gang members and migrant criminals from the dungeons of the Third World,” Trump said. “I will rescue Aurora and every town that has been invaded and conquered. These are stone-cold killers.” Trump promised to “make Colorado safe again.” Related: A new generation of victims.

California Lawmakers Support Newsom’s Plan to Stop Gas Price Hikes

The California State Senate advanced Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D) plan to mandate oil refiners maintain minimum fuel supplies. Proponents say the ABX2-1 bill would prevent shortages and stop gasoline prices from soaring. The California Energy Commission would also force refiners to devise plans to resupply during maintenance outages. The legislation must return to the Assembly for a final concurrence vote.

The Fight Against Big Oil: “Californians are one step closer to getting the protections they need against Big Oil’s price spikes. I’m grateful to our partners in the Senate for helping to save Californians money at the pump,” said Governor Newsom in a statement. “Price spikes cost consumers more than $2 billion last year, and we’re taking the action necessary to help put this to an end.” Related: California businesses continue to flee progressive policies.

Boeing to Fire 17,000 Workers Amid Strike, CEO Confirms

Boeing will terminate 17,000 employees, or 10% of its workforce, as the airplane maker contends with a labor dispute. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg also announced on October 11 that deliveries of its 777X planes will be postponed until 2026, and the company will discontinue production of its 767 Freighters until 2027. This comes as Boeing has struggled to negotiate successfully with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) union, which represents 33,000 machinists who walked off the job last month.

Boeing, Boeing, Gone: “Our business is in a difficult position, and it is hard to overstate the challenges we face together,” Ortberg said in a statement. “Beyond navigating our current environment, restoring our company requires tough decisions and we will have to make structural changes to ensure we can stay competitive and deliver for our customers over the long term.” Related: Industry fraud brings down Boeing planes.

‘Ultimate Hypocrite’: Comer Slams Raskin Over Certification Comments

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) slammed Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) over his comments regarding accepting the 2024 election results. Speaking in an interview with Fox News Digital, Comer called Raskin “the ultimate hypocrite,” adding that “he talks a big game about ‘saving democracy’ yet actively undermines it by sowing seeds of doubt in America’s free and fair elections when it benefits him to do so.” Comer referred to Raskin as a “two-time election denier,” refusing to certify the 2016 election win and calling the 2000 election “illegitimate.”

Call Me Maybe: Raskin recently told Axios that he might certify the 2024 election result if former President Donald Trump wins. However, the Democratic lawmaker asserted that the Republican presidential candidate “is doing whatever he can to try to interfere with the process, whether we’re talking about manipulating electoral college counts in Nebraska or manipulating the vote count in Georgia or imposing other kinds of impediments.” Other Democrats, including Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA), told Axios that the party would certify a Trump victory “assuming everything goes the way we expect it to.” Related: Election integrity is on the ballot.

US Consumer Sentiment Unexpectedly Slumps in October

Despite Politico calling it the “dream economy,” scores of US consumers turned sour on the economic landscape, according to the latest University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index. The preliminary October index declined from a five-month high and came in below market forecasts. The Current Conditions Index and Future Expectations Index weakened this month. The one-year inflation outlook rose to 2.9% from 2.7%, but the five-year projection slipped from 3.1% to 3%.

Inflation and the Election: While the growth rate of inflation has slowed from its June 2022 peak of 9.1%, “consumers continue to express frustration over high prices,” says Joanne Hsu, the Surveys of Consumers director. “Despite widespread news coverage about the Middle East and Ukraine, few consumers connected these developments to the economy. Concerns over these conflicts climbed this month but were relatively rare, mentioned spontaneously by less than 5% of consumers,” she said in a statement. “With the upcoming election on the horizon, some consumers appear to be withholding judgment about the longer term trajectory of the economy.” Related: What are America’s priorities?
