Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed an executive order that all COVID-19 emergency mandates issued by local governments be immediately lifted. The order states that its intent is to “minimize the negative effects of an extended emergency, such as a pandemic or another public health emergency.”
Speaking to the press in St. Petersburg, DeSantis said, “I think folks that are saying they need to be policing people at this point, if you’re saying that, then you’re really saying you don’t believe in the vaccines.” He followed up with:
“You have a right to participate in society, go to a restaurant, movie, a ballgame, all these things without having to divulge this type of information.”
The order will take effect on the first of July.
