For nearly two years, the left has worked nonstop to convince the American public that President Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government to sway the results of the 2016 election. But a federal judge recently struck a serious blow to the Democrats’ precious Russia collusion narrative.
Two major Democratic National Committee donors filed a lawsuit against the president and Roger Stone, alleging that their supposed collusion led to a violation of privacy. U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle didn’t agree — and the leftist media has not bothered to cover the story.
Lawsuit Tossed Out
The suit accused the team of conspiring with the Russian government to release emails obtained in the hacking of the Democratic Party, which revealed personal information. In essence, this legal action was nothing less than a direct accusation stating that the president collaborated with the Kremlin during the 2016 election.
On Tuesday, Judge Huvelle — a Clinton appointee — dismissed the plaintiff’s lawsuit, indicating that the two DNC donors failed to adequately link the Trump campaign to the distribution of the hacked emails. “The Trump Campaign’s efforts to elect President Trump in D.C. are not suit-related contacts for those efforts did not involve acts taken in furtherance of the conspiracies to disseminate emails that harmed plaintiffs,” Huvelle wrote. “Campaign meetings, canvassing voters, and other regular business activities of a political campaign do not constitute activities related to the conspiracies alleged in the complaint.”
The judge’s decision was based on technical issues with the lawsuit and does not make any claims regarding the validity of the accusations of collusion. “It bears emphasizing that this Court’s ruling is not based on a finding that there was no collusion between defendants and Russia during the 2016 presidential election,” she wrote. “This is the wrong forum for plaintiffs’ lawsuit. The Court takes no position on the merits of plaintiffs’ claims.”
Left-Wing Media Silent
Oddly enough, most of the left-wing media did not cover this story. Despite the fact that news outlets like CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS have given us nearly nonstop coverage of the Russia collusion narrative, they have not chimed in on the demise of the lawsuit as of this writing.
The legacy media’s reticence to give this story attention isn’t surprising. The investigation into the Trump campaign and the Kremlin has continued for nearly two years without providing any compelling evidence of wrongdoing. As Special Counsel Robert Mueller gets closer to wrapping up his probe, it appears more likely that the left will be sorely disappointed when he releases his findings.
If the left-wing news media were to report on stories that contradict their well-constructed narrative, the American public may begin to doubt them further. It’s already bad enough that the president and his supporters have flooded Twitter and Facebook with comments slamming the media for supporting this supposed witch hunt. The fact that agents of the F.B.I. were shown to be biased against the president aren’t helping their cause much either.
The reality is that the establishment media can’t afford many stories that cast doubt on the guilt of the Trump campaign; the narrative they have crafted is far more fragile than it seems. With the growing skepticism about the left’s favorite conspiracy theory, it should only take a few more reports such as this to topple the house of cards that is the Russia collusion story.
