Welcome to the next installment of “Lunacy on the Left” where Liberty Nation highlights the published comments and arguments made from the left-wing point of view on the issues of the day. Each week, we will showcase the opinions of the leftist establishment media outlets, Democratic politicians, and other prominent figures on the left. In short, we’re going to wade through the morass of leftist lunacy, so you don’t have to.
It seems that every week, the left exhibits behaviors that reveal some of their worst qualities. Last week was no different. We saw a fair amount of race-baiting in the lead up to the Unite the Right 2 Rally that was held in Washington, D.C. The left also showcased their willingness to censor views with which they disagree. And finally, the Democrat’s new superstar princess Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sticks her foot in her mouth once again.
The Atlantic: White Supremacy Is Winning
Last week, Adam Serwer penned a piece for The Atlantic titled “The White Nationalists Are Winning.” In the article, Serwer argues that white nationalists are gaining more ground in the culture because Fox News hosts are somehow disseminating racContextlyist propaganda in their broadcasts. Oh, and white supremacists held a rally in D.C., which somehow means that they are relevant.
Serwer claims that Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham are echoing the message of white ethnonationalists when they voice their opposition to illegal immigration. He writes:
“A year after white nationalists in Charlottesville chanted, ‘You will not replace us!’ their message has been taken up and amplified by Fox News personalities. Tucker Carlson tells his audience that ‘Latin American countries are changing election outcomes here by forcing demographic change on this country.’ Laura Ingraham says that ‘the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore’ because of “massive demographic changes” as a result of ‘both illegal and sometimes legal immigration that progressives love.’”
Both Ingraham and Carlson have repeatedly stated that their views on immigration have nothing to do with race — they are about ensuring that immigrants are benefiting the United States. As with most conservatives, they want people who share our values to be allowed to cross our borders, not those who subvert the nation’s laws.
Unfortunately, the left never misses an opportunity to twist the words of conservatives for race-baiting purposes. Indeed, Serwer’s entire piece is an attempt to make it appear that white nationalists are part of the mainstream conservative movement.
Medicare For All Will Save Money Because Funeral Costs!
Last week, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared on CNN with Chris Cuomo. During the interview, Cuomo asked Ocasio-Cortez — who advocates for Medicare for all — how the United States could pay for universal healthcare.
The candidate has previously failed to give a decent answer to this question. Her appearance on CNN was no different. After a meandering diatribe that did not adequately explain how the country could afford universal health care, she said:
“Americans have the sticker shock of health care as it is, and what we’re also not talking about is why aren’t we incorporating the cost of all the funeral expenses of those who died because they can’t afford access to health care? That is part of the cost of our system.”
Very interesting. Ocasio-Cortez seems to be saying that Americans are dying because they can’t afford healthcare. Therefore, their funeral costs are placing a heavy financial burden on our healthcare system. This must mean that people who live in a country that provides universal healthcare live forever, right? Fortunately, Liberty Nation did not have to go far to verify this theory. We have writers who live in nations with nationalized healthcare.
We spoke with Onar Åm, a citizen of Norway, and Mark Angelides, a citizen of the United Kingdom. Both of these nations have universal healthcare programs. We asked them both if the citizens of their countries live forever. Åm said, “no.” He added, “In Norway, people pay for their own funerals.” Angelides echoed Åm’s sentiments. Despite a National Health Service that is free at the point of use – but of course paid through taxation – we Brits die,” he said.
There you have it. No country can cut down on funeral costs by implementing universal healthcare. People will die regardless of their country’s healthcare system. The average life expectancy in these nations is not much higher than the United States despite their healthcare policies.
Twitter Removes Gavin McInnes And Proud Boys
Last week, the left went all out in their attempts to censor conservatives. Facebook, YouTube, and Apple wiped out Alex Jones’ content for allegedly violating their terms of service. But they didn’t stop there. Microsoft threatened to stop hosting free speech social media outlet Gab.
Twitter stayed out of the censorship game for most of the week, but on Thursday, they suspended the accounts of the Proud Boys, a right-wing activist group, and their founder Gavin McInnes. The social media company stated that the Proud Boys violated its policy on “violent extremist groups.” Oddly enough, the accounts of Antifa remained intact.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
The Proud Boys have tangled with Antifa at a variety of events. However, most of the video recordings of these altercations show that Antifa initiated the violence while the Proud Boys defended themselves. Of course, this is where McInnes’ group went wrong. Everyone knows that when far leftists physically threaten conservatives, the victims are not supposed to fight back! This is why Antifa is allowed to have a social media presence despite their violent proclivities, and conservative groups are subject to bans and censorship.
The Left Just Won’t Stop
In all seriousness, it is important to recognize that the left is stepping up their efforts to silence conservative voices on the internet. The reason why is obvious: Right-leaning pundits and organizations have subverted the left’s hold on mainstream news outlets by using alternative media.
The left’s success is reliant on the lack of opposing voices. Many leftists have given up on using debate and persuasion to get people to accept their ideas. Instead, they seek to make sure that theirs are the only views that are heard by the American public. Alex Jones is only the beginning. Conservatives would do well to stay ahead of the left’s efforts to remove their voices from the internet, or they could become less relevant in American society.
