Welcome to the “Lunacy on the Left” column, in which Liberty Nation highlights the published comments and arguments made from the left-wing point of view on the issues of the day. Each week, we will showcase the opinions of the leftist establishment media outlets, Democratic politicians, and other prominent figures on the left. In short, we wade through the morass of leftist lunacy, so you don’t have to.
Last week brought some amazingly insane behavior from our friends on the left. While the MAGA bomber dominated the news cycle, progressives still managed to engage in their usual antics. A California university offered a course that every social justice warrior needs. GLAAD weighed in on the entertainment industry. Last, but not least, NBC anchor Chuck Todd had an interesting theory on the mail bombings before the suspect was caught.
University Offers Workshop on Protesting
University of California Santa Cruz recently hosted a conference called “Practical Activism,” which provided a series of workshops for woke students whose ultimate ambition is to fight for social justice while living in their parents’ basement. These workshops covered all types of far-left material, but oddly enough, none offered a class on gourmet Hot Pocket recipes. Oh well.
One of the more popular workshops was “Protesting 101,” with “tips and methods for organizing, mobilizing, and participating safely in protests.” Apparently, these individuals needed someone to educate them on the finer points of holding signs while screaming incoherently.
Yet another workshop, “DACA and TPS in the Trump Era,” focused on how the president is addressing the situation with the Dreamers and those with temporary protected status. It also taught students how to become an “ally to the undocumented community.” Nothing more woke than helping people break the law, is there?
GLAAD Wants Even More LGBTQ+ In Entertainment
GLAAD is not satisfied.
Apparently, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) believes that the entertainment industry still does not have enough LBGTQ representation. After a report was released that broadcast television has a record number of LGBTQ characters, Sarah Kate Ellis, president of GLAAD, met with several industry leaders to brainstorm ways to include even more LGBTQ characters in their programming.
The study showed that 8.8% of characters on current television programming are members of the LGBTQ community. This figure is interesting because LGBTQ individuals make up about 4.5% of the U.S. population. Nevertheless, GLAAD is not satisfied. They have stated that they wish to see the number of LGBTQ individuals increase to 10% in the television industry.
According to the report, prime-table cable shows have increased LGBTQ representation by 20%. Streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon have increased this number by 72% since last year. While GLAAD might not have as many complaints about the TV industry, they are not happy with films.
Each major film studio has received failing grades from GLAAD this year. Of course, this is likely because television is broadcast straight into people’s homes, while filmmakers have to create content that motivates people to travel to a movie theater. Naturally, alienating a large chunk of their audience by cramming social justice propaganda down their throats would not be a great business decision.
Chuck ToddChuck Todd: “The Russians Might Have Sent the Bombs”
Before the mail bombing suspect was apprehended in Florida, there was much speculation about the identity of the perpetrator. The left-wing media tried to convince the American public that the suspect was someone directly motivated by President Trump’s mean words. Conservatives jumped right to unfounded false flag conspiracy theories.
But it was MSNBC’s Chuck Todd who had the most inane theory. On his show, he speculated that the Russians might be the party responsible for sending the bombs to prominent Democrats. “This feels like a spot — I have this fear that it could be some Russian operation too, in designed to do what’s happening now,” he said. “In some ways, we shouldn’t rule anything out. It is dividing us.”
Apparently, it wasn’t enough to meddle in the election, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided it’d be funny to send fake bombs just for laughs. Of course, Todd offered no evidence to support this notion. It is almost as if he was trying to find a way to inject the Russiagate narrative into this story, isn’t it?
