Welcome to the “Lunacy on the Left” column where Liberty Nation highlights the published comments and arguments made from the left-wing point of view on the issues of the day. Each week, we will showcase the opinions of the leftist establishment media outlets, Democratic politicians, and other prominent figures on the left. In short, we wade through the morass of leftist lunacy, so you don’t have to.
As you already know, last week was dominated by news coverage of the funerals of Senator John McCain and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. But don’t worry, the left did not fail to put their lunacy on full display. CNN’s Don Lemon had some choice words for rapper Kanye West, a clueless Democrat candidate thinks she will impeach Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and Florida Gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis becomes the left’s latest target for mindless race-baiting.
Let’s dive in!
The Left Monkeys Up Politics
Ron DeSantis, the Florida state candidate for governor, came under fire for using a supposed racial slur when he was discussing his Democrat opponent Andrew Gillum. After both men won their respective primaries, DeSantis made an appearance on Fox News in which he praised his opponent for outperforming his competitors. Then, he said: “Let’s build off the success we’ve had on Governor Rick Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.”
The left gleefully jumped on the opportunity to engage in feigned outrage and hurl false accusations of racism at DeSantis. The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart wrote: “The obvious slur here is “monkey this up.” Likening African Americans to monkeys, apes, and chimps is a racist pastime. Since slavery, blacks were seen as not human or less than human.”
Of course, Capehart leaves out the obvious fact that DeSantis was referring to Democratic Socialism when he made his comments, not to Gillum himself. Apparently the left forgot that many Americans use the word “monkey” as a verb indicating that a person is making a mess of things. It’s common knowledge to those who are not constantly wearing bigotry-colored glasses, which enable leftists to inject racism into situations where it doesn’t exist.
Let’s Impeach Clarence Thomas!
A U.S. House of Representative candidate in Massachusetts made an interesting promise to potential voters. If elected, State Senator Barbara L’Italien promised to impeach Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
L’Italien stated that Thomas’ impeachment would be part of a broader effort to remove officials who have been guilty of sexual abuse. Of course, this movement would also target President Donald Trump. She said:
“There is an elephant in the room for Congress in the #MeToo era. Our leaders have to start talking about it. Two of the most powerful men in the country have been credibly accused of sexual crimes and gotten away with it, laws cracking down on sexual assault have to be signed by a president who multiple women say assaulted them. Regulations to stop sexual harassment can be struck down by a Supreme Court justice who lied under oath to counter allegations of sexual harassment. Why would victims think a government like that is looking out for them?”
It appears that L’Italien thinks she can finish the job the left started back in 1991 when Anita Hill, an Oklahoma law professor who worked with Thomas, accused him of sexual harassment. Many other women who worked alongside the Supreme Court Justice stated that Hill’s accusations were not credible.
Don Lemon Slams Kanye West
Last, but most certainly not least, we have the CNN’s Don Lemon, who never misses a chance to make himself look silly. The news anchor recently lashed out at Kanye West after the hip-hop artist participated in an interview with a Chicago morning show. During the interview, West reaffirmed his support for President Trump, and stated that “He knows that he can’t be the greatest president without the acceptance of the black community.”
Apparently, Lemon could not stomach West’s continued support for the president. “If you listen to the entire interview that’s what it sounds like … it’s like a word salad where you realize that Kanye West, entitled to his own opinion, but is not very bright and not very — he — when — I’m talking about this issue, not overall, but when it comes to these issues, he’s not clued in.”
To be fair, Lemon did take back his statement that West “is not very bright” during the segment. But it is worth pointing out that the reporter did not have much to say when West declared that President George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people.”
What’s In Store This Week?
Now that the media has finished using Aretha Franklin and John McCain’s funerals to bash President Trump, the left is sure to get back to their usual hysteria and hypocrisy. As always, Liberty Nation will be there to make fun — I mean report on these stories as they emerge.
