Welcome to the next installment of “Lunacy on the Left” where Liberty Nation highlights the published comments and arguments made from the left-wing point of view on the issues of the day. Each week, we will showcase the opinions of the leftist establishment media outlets, Democratic politicians, and other prominent figures on the left. In short, we’re going to wade through the morass of leftist lunacy, so you don’t have to.
As always, last week brought us several different examples of lunacy on the left. The hypocrisy of left-leaning leaders and news outlets was on full display as they justified racism, made light of political violence, slammed a football player for refusing to protest, and used an Islamophobic term to describe Trump’s immigration policies.
Kentucky Secretary Of State Mocks Rand Paul
Alison Lundergan, Kentucky’s Secretary of State, made a tasteless joke about Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) in a speech at a Fancy Farm Picnic last Friday. When discussing the upcoming elections, she said “Just ask his neighbor. He can be beaten.”
Lundergan’s joke was a reference to an incident in which one of Paul’s neighbors viciously assaulted him while the senator was outside his home. The aggressor tackled Paul from behind and broke six of his ribs. He was sentenced to 30 days in prison for the assault.
The neighbor was known for his anti-Trump views, and his animus toward the president was the motivation for his attack. Apparently, Lundergan believes that political violence is amusing. Pretty classy, right? Of course, we don’t have to imagine what would happen if a conservative politician made such a joke should a similar incident happened to a Democratic leader, do we?
NFL Quarterback Slammed
Dallas Cowboys’ starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, recently received harsh criticism from the left. Why? Because he committed the unconscionable crime of standing during the national anthem. That’s right. He refused to kneel in protest, so the left is slamming him. You know how they get when uppity black folks step out of line, right?
On social media, a plethora of leftists called out the football player. NY Daily News Columnist Carron J. Phillips called him a “lemonade serving house negro.” Don’t they get tired of hearing us say that this is how they got Trump? Apparently not. However, Prescott didn’t imitate his critics’ behavior.
The quarterback stated that people who are lambasting him on social media are failing to understand what his beliefs are. “I never said I didn’t believe in social injustice and things that were going on,” he said. “I just said I didn’t think that the national anthem was the time. It’s two minutes out of our day that we could also be spending embracing what our country should be and what our country is going to be one day that we know that it’s not right now.”
Prescott indicated that he plans to affect change in a more effective way. “I am for the action,” he said. “I am for joining Malcolm and joining those guys in doing something different. It seems Prescott understands that there are better ways to make a difference than kneeling for the national anthem.
Trump Is Waging Jihad Against Immigrants
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is always an entertaining figure on the left, especially when he opens his mouth. Recently, he stated that President Trump is “on a jihad to deport as many people as they can who they believe are not in the United States legally.”
Really Andy? A jihad?
It appears that Cuomo does not know what that word means — or why it could be construed as Islamophobic. Or perhaps he knows exactly what it means, and he is attempting to lump conservatives in with Islamic terrorists.
Oddly enough, nobody on the left called him out for his use of the word “jihad.” The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) was eerily silent. Maybe they were too busy figuring out new ways to support Hamas to have noticed the governor’s obvious gaffe.
The Left Doubles Down On Racism
You have likely already heard about The New York Times decision to hire an outspoken racist as its lead technology writer. Sarah Jeong — a Korean-American — received a lot of attention because of anti-white racist tweets she had posted. Left-leaning news outlets quickly took to social media to condemn Jeong’s tweets and protest her hiring.
Just kidding.
Sarah Jeong
Instead, they took the road less traveled, the left went the hypocritical route and rallied to Jeong’s defense. When New York Magazine columnist Andrew Sullivan penned a piece stating that anti-white racism is wrong, the social media thought police task force castigated him.
When addressing Jeong’s tweets, Sullivan wrote:
“Scroll through left-Twitter, and you find utter incredulity that demonizing white people could in any way be offensive. That’s the extent to which loathing of and contempt for “white people” is now background noise on the left. What many don’t seem to understand is that their view of racism isn’t shared by the public at large, and that the defense of it by institutions like the New York Times will only serve to deepen the kind of resentment that gave us Trump.”
Journalist Brian Feldman tweeted: “andrew sullivan’s newest column is complete garbage and I’m embarrassed to be even tangentially associated with it.” Technology writer Mike Isaac also tweeted: “god, andrew sullivan is an embarrassment to writing how does NYMag still publish this guy.’
The Washington Post also got in on the act. They published a piece defending Jeong:
“Without evidence that they had any bearing on Jeong’s extensive body of work, which includes a book she wrote about online harassment, these statements could have perhaps been unceremoniously dismissed as insignificant. But after conservative media seized on the story Thursday, they ignited a firestorm of debate.”
Yes, that’s right WaPo. This story is only an issue because us evil conservatives have turned it into one. Not because Jeong clearly expressed racist sentiments. But are any of us surprised? Everyone knows that racism is justified as long as it’s against white people or minorities who don’t embrace leftism.
They Just Can’t Help Themselves
When it comes to influencing the American public, the left isn’t doing themselves any favors by continually holding others to standards to which they do not aspire. The more that people see these displays of hypocrisy, they less likely they will be to embrace the Democratic Party. Well, they can’t say we didn’t warn them!
