The Biden administration has finally started to take the border crisis seriously – or has it? Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tapped as border czar about three months ago, managed to find the time to visit the southern border with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in tow.
Both officials made remarks about the migrant crisis – but there was something conspicuously, if not predictably, absent from their commentary on the situation.
Kamala Harris Forgets American Citizens

Kamala Harris
While addressing the nation from El Paso, Texas, Harris exhorted Americans not to “lose sight of the fact that we’re talking about human beings,” when referring to the hundreds of thousands of individuals attempting to gain entry into the United States. The vice president continued, explaining the dangers many migrants face. “Let’s not lose sight that we’re talking about stories,” she said, going on to describe “horrendous tales of abuse and fear and harm, not only for folks who are coming from their home countries experiencing that, but along the path of their migration.”
Harris called on Americans to take a more humane view towards those who made the trek to the southern border. “And so let’s recognize with a sense of humanity that these issues must be addressed in a way that is informed by fact and informed by reality,” the VP continued, “and informed by perspective that actually is dedicated to addressing problems and fixing them in the most productive and constructive way.”
Despite pretending to take a harder line against illegal immigration during a recent trip to Guatemala, the vice president failed to mention the impact on Americans. Breitbart News observed:
“Unmentioned in Harris’s remarks was the impact that illegal immigration has on Americans, specifically working and middle-class communities, who foot the bill for border crossers in depressed wages, public services, medical care, increased crime, and more foreign competition in the U.S. labor market.”
Texas recently filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over the immigration issue. “Texas taxpayers are forced to pay hundreds of millions of dollars every year to sustain the services our state must provide to illegal aliens,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton pointed out. “Without the public-charge rule, our Medicaid budget and other vital services will explode and be spread too thin, costing taxpayers millions more and reducing the quality of service we can provide.”
Towns in other border states like Arizona have also struggled to deal with the influx of migrants that are dropped into their communities by the Border Patrol. Many of these individuals and families were not even given a date to show up in court to have their cases adjudicated.
Mayorkas Touts Open Borders Policies
In the press conference alongside Harris, Mayorkas urged Congress to approve an amnesty plan for over 11 million illegal aliens. “I am hopeful that Congress will pass immigration reform to fix a system that everyone recognizes is broke, and I am thankful for [Sen. Dick Durbin’s] years-long effort and championing this effort,” he said.
The secretary stated that the White House’s objective is “to build safe and legal pathways for people” to remain in the U.S. permanently. “The amnesty push by Mayorkas comes as Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has said he is crafting amnesty legislation that would be sent off to Senate Democrats for negotiating,” according to Breitbart News.
What About Americans?
Based on the comments made by Harris, Mayorkas, and President Joe Biden, it is abundantly clear that this administration is not concerned with the needs of American citizens and those who entered the country legally. Instead, Democrats are gung-ho on importing as many people as possible and, it seems, creating a new voting base. Their motivations appear to have nothing to do with the wellbeing of the immigrants but more to do with gaining an electoral advantage.
It is for this reason that these supposed leaders won’t mention the fact that illegal immigration depresses wages, causes crime, and results in fewer jobs for American workers. These problems are not as important to Biden and the gang as finding easier ways to defeat their political opposition. So, is it any surprise that they are in a full-court press to open America’s borders?
