Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee have made great sport of attacking conservative justices’ legitimacy for sitting on the Supreme Court in any case, to sitting in judgment in certain cases. Recently, news broke of some old stories about flags flying over Justice Samuel Alito’s residence in Virginia and a beach house in New Jersey. Hoping they finally had the goods on Alito, Democrats said the flags – including an “Appeal to Heaven” flag – were political speech indicating allyship with Stop the Steal and necessitating Altio recuse himself from cases involving former President Donald Trump. He declined. It turns out that Justice Alito does not like flags, but his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, does. Her fondness for them does not compromise his judging:
